Zhongshan Park is a comprehensive park in Yinchuan and a park with a long history in Ningxia. There are more than 20,000 plants of various types in the park, 101 famous trees and key protected trees, and the green space rate is 79.41%. The zoo in the park covers an area of 90 acres and has more than 500 wild animals. It was originally the ruins of the Wu Palace of the Yuan Dynasty of the Western Xia Dynasty, and was later destroyed in the war. During the Jiajing period of the Ming Dynasty, this was the barracks for troops and horses belonging to the town, commonly known as "West Horse Camp". In 1929, Menzhizhong, a subordinate of Feng Yuxiang, built a park here and officially named it "Zhongshan Park". At present, there are 18 landscapes including the evening sunset pavilion, the river shaking in Hechi, the iron cow in the pool, the autumn grass on the ancient wall, the moon pavilion mooring the boat, the curved bridge with willow smoke, the silver lake lying on the wave, the ringing bell asking the moon, and the poems of Wu Mu. There are also many landscapes such as a zoo, a greenhouse, and a juvenile science and technology station. The historic Wenchang Pavilion is located on the north bank of Yinhu Lake. It was built in the Qing Dynasty and is majestic and is the main symbol of the park. The bronze bell in the Ringing Bell Pavilion was obtained from the abandoned temple in Xixia during the Chenghua period of the Ming Dynasty. The bell has a unique style. According to legend, this bronze bell chimes in a quiet night. During the Tongzhi period of the Qing Dynasty, some people wanted to use it to cast a cannon.
