Pearl River Lights & Hidden History: A Day in Guangzhou
📍Guangzhou, China 🇨🇳 — where tradition, flavors, and skyline meet.
Our day in Guangzhou began with a walk through Beijing Road Pedestrian Street, a busy area full of shops, energy, and history.
Hidden beneath the pavement, we discovered the Ancient Road Site — layers of real stone roads from the Tang, Song, and Ming dynasties. Standing above centuries-old paths was humbling ⏳🪨
Just a short walk away, we stepped into the peaceful Dafo Temple (Great Buddha Temple) 🛕
Tucked between the city buzz, this ancient Buddhist temple felt like a hidden sanctuary. The giant golden Buddha inside radiated calm and presence — a beautiful contrast to the busy streets outside.
After recharging our spirit, we recharged our stomachs — with a truly local experience: Chaozhou-style beef hotpot 🥩🔥
Freshly sliced beef hung elegantly from steel racks, each cut more tender than the last. Dip, swirl, taste — perfect!
Don’t miss the beef meatballs and handmade sauces — simple, fresh, unforgettable.
At night, we strolled along the Pearl River, watching boats drift by under neon lights.
The iconic Canton Tower (“Xiao Man Yao”) lit up the skyline — slender, colorful, and stunning 🌉🌃
✅ Tip: Stay near Beijing Road for a walkable, culture-rich location that lets you explore both history and nightlife in one place.
Guangzhou served us beauty, balance, and beef — what more could we ask for?
