Kosovo Attractions - Kosovo Fortress Our parking spot in the small town of Prizren is right below the Kosovo Fortress. There is a water source here for replenishment, which is very convenient 😀 But when you park your car here, you may experience the sound of prayer at 4 a.m. The walk from the old town to the fortress takes about 30 minutes and is very steep. This time, I visited Prizren as a day trip from Gjakova, and I couldn't help but think, "I wish I could have stayed longer." The city is brimming with captivating attractions. 🌉 Highlights: - The old town surrounding the Prizren River, adorned with stone bridges. - The panoramic view from the Prizren Fortress perched on a hill. → The fortress is accessible by a 20-minute walk. On the day of my visit, I was fortunate to witness a circumhorizontal arc and halo rainbow 🌈. The ethereal ring of colors in the sky was a breathtaking moment that felt like a special reward during my journey. 🚌 Access: Day Trip Route from Pristina Here’s the itinerary I followed: 1. Pristina → Gjakova: Approximately 1.5 hours, €5 2. Gjakova → Prizren: Approximately 1 hour, €3 3. Prizren → Pristina: Approximately 2 hours, €5 *All buses depart from the terminal, and tickets can be purchased on the spot (no reservation needed). 📌 Key Points: - The city is filled with photogenic spots that exude historical charm. - The view from the fortress at sunset is particularly recommended. - Prizren is less crowded with tourists, allowing for a leisurely exploration.

Prizren is a commercial city (not the capital) of Kosovo. The beautiful scenery, which combines Ottoman Turkish and European styles, is worth spending time visiting! You can experience a romantic atmosphere just by walking around. There are also nice cafes here and there. The city is relatively compact. One day is enough to get around. The view from Prizren Fortress in the evening on a clear day is particularly spectacular. We recommend taking the long, gentle road that goes around the hill on the way there, and the steep slope from the fortress to the side of the mosque on the way back. The cityscape is also beautiful during the day, but a stroll around the illuminated XX mosque is a must. Dormitories start at €10 per night, and private rooms start at €25. You can enjoy delicious steaks at restaurants for around €10. There are also street stalls where you can buy drinks, ice cream, baklava, etc. for €1 to €2. A large supermarket is a little out of town (within walking distance), and there are grocery stores in the city. There are both mosques and churches. Most of the people are Muslim, but the women do not wear hijabs, and alcohol is available. It is fine for women to go alone. If you are interested in religion, it would be more beneficial to research and visit in advance. The way to get there is by bus. If you are only going to Prizren, I recommend coming from Tirana, the capital of Albania. You can also get there from Pristina, the capital of Kosovo, and Skopje, the capital of Macedonia. However, there is only one train per day from Skopje, so be sure to check the timetable. There are about four trains per day between Pristina and Prizren and Tirana, and some trains are not listed on the internet, so if it is not peak season, you can buy tickets on site. The timetable in the photo is as of May 2023, from Pristina to Prizren to Tirana. The bus terminal in Tirana is divided into international and domestic, and they are far apart, so if you are going to Prizren after traveling within Albania, or going the other way, it is best to check in advance. It takes about 10 minutes to walk up the hill from the Sinan Pasha Mosque to reach Prizren Fortress. The view of the city of Prizren from here is incredibly beautiful. The roofs of the houses in Prizren are orange, and they look beautiful as they reflect the setting sun. The fortress is open 24 hours a day, but I highly recommend visiting in the evening. I went to Sinan Pasha Mosque, a tourist highlight in Prizren, Kosovo. The town of Prizren is centered around this mosque. The entrance fee to the mosque is free. There are tourist attractions within a 5-minute walk from the mosque, such as the Prizren Fortress, the square, the stone bridge, and the river that runs through the center of the town. The tour will take about 3 hours, but I recommend staying overnight and enjoying the night atmosphere. The area around the mosque is crowded with people, and there are many stylish shops such as restaurants and cafes. The town of Kosvo has an Islamic rural atmosphere. The entrance fee is only one Euro, the size of the museum is not very huge but it is really an interesting place to visit. A very small museum talks about the history of Albanian nationalism in the 18-19th century. . Albanian traditional clothes , even for bride and groom at that time. But what I think makes this museum stand out is the gorgeous, extremely well renovated and kept architecture of the grounds and buildings. The way the main building organically weaves along in an S-curve, with an ancient mosque in the further background, is great, as is the smaller house. In this combination, it is I think the highlight in Prizren, and not to be missed.
