Osaka Shinsekai Market: A nostalgic adventure through time 🏮
#Osaka Attractions
Hidden at the foot of Tsutenkaku, Osaka Shinsekai Market is a century-old shopping street that began in the Taisho era. This was once a bustling commercial center, but now it has a strong Showa retro style. Wandering through it, you’ll see red lanterns swaying, vendors selling second-hand clothes, nostalgic items, and the leopard print clothing store that became famous on TV. Every step you take is like stepping into a time tunnel.
In recent years, the market's hawker street project has made the nights lively, with tourists and locals sitting around the stalls and the aroma of barbecue wafting in the air, creating a unique otherworldly atmosphere. Standing here, I feel the warmth of life of ordinary people in Osaka. Those old shops carry stories of the years, which makes people want to stay a little longer and savor this uniqueness.
Access: 3 minutes walk from Ebisucho Station on the Sakaisuji Subway Line or 10 minutes walk from Shin-Imamiya Station on the JR Line

Osaka Shinsekai: A blend of retro and folk style
Osaka Shinsekai is a nostalgic neighborhood that feels like traveling back in time to the Showa era. The most representative landmark is Tsutenkaku, and you can overlook the entire city of Osaka by climbing to the top of the tower. The common people's culture here is strong, and the streets and alleys are full of Kansai-style izakaya and kushikatsu restaurants. I especially recommend the "kushikatsu" - fried until golden and crispy, dipped in a special sauce, it is extremely delicious. In addition, the neon signs of Shinsekai and the retro amusement park "Dobutsuen-mae Ichibangai" add a unique nostalgic charm. Although some areas are a bit old, it is this atmosphere mixed with historical traces and the vitality of the common people that makes Shinsekai one of the most unique tourist attractions in Osaka. If you like to experience tradition and local culture, this place is definitely worth a visit. #Osaka Attractions

I visited Mega Don Quijote Shinsekai, which is directly connected to Exit 5 of Dobutsuenmae Station in Osaka, Japan.
Unlike regular Don Quijote, it is Mega Don Quijote, which boasts a huge scale as its name suggests.
There are so many products that you have to look at the map to find them, so please take a look when you travel!

Our family trip to Shinsekai in Osaka was a vibrant and memorable experience. We explored the retro charm of the area, with its colorful streets and eclectic mix of shops and eateries. The kids loved the views from Tsutenkaku Tower and playing games at the vintage arcades. We enjoyed trying various local street foods, immersing ourselves in the lively atmosphere.
For our next family trip, I suggest Kyoto. It's close to Osaka and offers a rich tapestry of cultural and historical experiences. We can visit majestic temples, enjoy traditional tea ceremonies, and take leisurely strolls through beautiful gardens. Kyoto's blend of cultural depth and family-friendly activities makes it an ideal destination.

Osaka Shinsekai Life Sushi Restaurant [Sushi Hiro] Recommended

I recommend the best sushi restaurant I've ever been to in Osaka.
Sushihiro is located in Shinsekai,
so it's a bit far from the tourist spots Namba and Umeda,
but I still recommend you visit.
The seasoning of each piece of sushi was just right,
and the neta was very fresh, so it was really delicious.
This is a restaurant I definitely want to visit again in Osaka!

🇯🇵⛩️Another popular area in Osaka that you shouldn't miss is the "Shinsekai" area, which is a bustling area full of restaurants and shops, including the Osaka Twin Towers🗼 "Tsutei Tower" standing tall in the heart of the city for tourists to take pictures and also go up to see the view from above. This area is also next to the 🦭🐧Tennoji Zoo.
