Rainy Day Adventure: Conquering the Slippery Trails of Bengoh Dam to Discover a Hidden Waterfall
#outdooradventures #100waysoftravel #Borneo #Sarawak #kuching #bengohdam #nature #waterfall
Our hike at Bengoh Dam on a rainy Saturday was both challenging and rewarding. The day began with a long queue for the boat ride, as it was the weekend and the trail was busy with fellow adventurers.
Once we began the hike, the trail was incredibly slippery due to the constant rain, making it quite a test of balance and endurance. Luckily, wearing Adidas Kampung shoes with good grip was a lifesaver, as the terrain was tricky and muddy throughout. Despite being soaked from head to toe, we pressed on, and reaching the beautiful waterfall made it all worthwhile. The sight of the cascading water and the refreshing mist made us forget about the wet, slippery hike, and we truly enjoyed the natural beauty around us.

Kayaking Through Kampung Semadang: A Refreshing River Adventure Near Kuching
#kayak #100waysoftravel #kuching #borneo #sarawak #river
We decided to go kayaking at Kampung Semadang on our previous off day, and despite the gloomy weather, it turned out to be perfect for outdoor activities, with a cool breeze that made the experience even more enjoyable. Sunblock and insect repellent were still essentials, though.
The kayaking adventure at Kampung Semadang, located about 45 minutes' drive from Kuching, is a must-try for nature lovers. For around RM 150 per person, the package typically includes a guided tour, kayak rental, safety gear, and a light meal.
As we paddled along the serene river, our friendly local guide led us through the lush rainforest, pointing out interesting flora and fauna. We even made a stop at a hidden waterfall, where we couldn't resist dipping into the icy water.
It was a refreshing and memorable adventure, blending the tranquility of nature with a bit of thrilling fun. Kampung Semadang is easy to reach by car or taxi, and the experience is well worth the drive for a day filled with natural beauty and adventure.

Sarawak, a great nature!
Sarawak, the Land of the Hornbills, there is so much more Sarawak can offer than what meets the eye. Home to 31 ethnic groups, Sarawak is a unique plethora of culture, adventure, nature, food, and festivals (CANFF). It is the place where the journey of endless exploration starts.
Sarawak has a whopping 56 totally protected areas, 37 gazetted national parks, five wildlife sanctuaries and 14 nature reserves. It’s rainforests are the size of Austria.
The hornbill, proboscis monkey and the orangutan are some of the most awe-inducing fauna in Sarawak. Its rainforests house the world’s richest and most diverse ecosystems.
Home to the world’s largest flower, the Rafflesia (that can grow to the size of a coffee table), squirrels and snakes that fly, deer the size of cats, plants that eat insects (and small animals). Home also to the orangutan, the proboscis monkey, the hornbill the Rajah Brooke butterfly and the silverleaf monkey, experts believe that there are some species of flora and fauna yet to be discovered.

Jong Crocodile Farm - Serian
Located approximately 30km from Kuching is Jong’s Crocodile Farm. It is located on the Kuching-Serian Road and was the next place I visited after visiting the orang utans in Semenggoh Wildlife Centre. I have read about this crocodile farm in sixthseal and the tourist guides. I have always been interested in reptiles especially snakes and crocodiles so this was not to be missed. Do you know crocodiles are actually living dinosaurs? They are the toughest survivor and many have predicted they will still be around after men’s extinction. That’s why they fascinate me so much.
Entrance fee for adult is RM8 and RM4 for children under 12. The best time to visit is of course during feeding times at 11am and 3pm daily, you wouldn’t want to miss all the crocodile actions! Here, the staff was reeling away some pig livers for feeding session. The bound livers look like chickens from far don’t they?

Incredible orangutan feeding!
I had no idea I’d get such a close-up look at the orangutans at Semeggoh wildlife centre in Kuching.
There was a sign out front that said we probably wouldn’t see them because it was fruiting season and they had plenty of food.
But guess what? As soon as we arrived for the morning feeding session, one 17-year-old male orangutan was already out, having breakfast! Apparently, there was another one nearby, another male, who was 19 and a lot bigger.
The worker gave us some instructions to stay quiet and be patient, and finally, he appeared!
It was an amazing morning, 10/10 an incredible activity to do in Kuching, and only RM10 for the ticket (which lets you get into the two feeding sessions every day - 9-11 and 2-4). #travel #orangutan #naturalwonders #thingstodo #budgetrip #citydaytours #familytravel

#favouriteitinerary it is the Chinese tradition that every Chinese New Year, all family members gather back home to have reunion dinner (Chap Goh Meh). This dinner would feature more premium dishes using as the abalone and sea cucumbers related raw ingredients. At night once the clock reaches 12:00, the whole neighbourhood is lit up with fireworks that often last 30mins at least.

amazing Orang Utan
Semenggol wildlife center is a must visit when you are in Kuching Malaysia. We took a free bus shuttle from Kuching open air market at 6amand the journey took about one hour. The centre is open at 8am. You can pay and go in by the buggy or walk in around 20mins to the feeding platform. We were lucky we saw 3 Orang Utan. During fruit season maybe a little difficult to see as they don't need to come out to hunt for fruits. Some tourist don't even to get the chance to see at all.#semenggol 🕰️Business Hours:8am-10am. 2-4pm

With RM20 a family of 3 can go see Orang Utan
#newyearnewtrip
Located in Kuching Sarawak, this place is protected called Semenggoh Wildlife Centre.
You can spend half day here, a little bit of walk in the jungle to see the semi wildlife Orang Utan. But you cannot touch them nor taking photo with them. Only can see from afar.
Whenever in Kuching, we make it must see place to go. If you lucky you will see a lot of Orang Utan, they have their names and age put on the board there. But if you are unlucky or it’s fruit season, none will come out during feeding time.
This place is approximately 40 mins drive from Kuching City Centre
visit Semenggoh Wildlife Centre if you are in Kuching. Here, you get to see Orang Utans living in the wild. Encounters with them do depend on how lucky you are since it is the Orang Utans who decide if they want to appear during feeding times when Park Rangers put fruits to supplement wild fruits they get in the forest. It's definitely worth a half day visit there. You will need to register your visit as it is in the nature reserves and strongly suggests buying the buggy ride to the feeding location to save you some uphill climb. The way to the feeding area is well path except for the last 200m so everyone can enjoy the view. #travel #semenggohwildlifecenter #kuching

Local Hot Spring Surrounded By Nature!
I love relaxing here, finding peace of mind in the tranquil surroundings of the forest, with trees all around and the sound of birds, which creates a wonderful experience. I prefer visiting in the morning, as the warm bath leaves me feeling refreshed for the day. The best part of this hot spring, featuring a large wooden roof that provides shelter from the sun and rain. It allows visitors to enjoy the open-air hot spring in any weather.

It's basically open sanctuary for Orang Utan feeding. The park is exposed to the open forest for Orang Utan to come over for the food. Feeding time is on two sessions, starting at 8am in the morning and second session in the afternoon 2pm.
You may get lucky enough to see Orang Utan come over for the food. There are few feeding stations in the park, will need to hike to those stations. From the registration counter and ticket, you can either walk to the feeding station or take the buggy shuttle bus with some charges. Very low chances to see Orang Utan during the rainy day because they may just stay in their shelter.
Registration pretty well managed by scanning the QR code at the counter to your phone then present to the counter officer and make the payment of the ticket. There few rangers will prepare the food to the feeding stations and also give some briefing to visitors. There are clean public toilets too.
