We were walking around town and stumbled upon this beautiful wall. Perfect picture spot. It looks so unreal as if its animated, LITERALLY MY SCREEN SAVER. but so many cute hidden gems here in yunnan china, I definitely want to make a longer trip back. HIGHLY RECOMMEND #shaxiancienttown

Going to Shaxi from Lijiang is quite easy and convenient by carpool. It takes around 2 - 2.5hrs for 80y from the LJ old town, 130y from LJ airport. (Find the wechat contacts in attached pic) It's a small, beautiful town with a lot of check-in corners. If you dont have a lot of time 2 -3 hour visit is enough. There are not many tourists in town or not at time that I visited (~ end of Oct) so you can enjoy the chill, relaxing environment while in cozy coffee shops or near the river. The town looks different at different time during the day: quite early morning, sunny afternoon and lightened evening. #china #shaxiancienttown

We absolutely love Shaxi. It’s a great stop between Dali and Lijiang, and we booked a shared car to travel directly from Dali. Shaxi is a small ancient town, and everything is within walking distance. There are plenty of charming B&Bs, and the food is delicious. We fell in love with a fish hot pot restaurant near the entrance. We also spend time visiting a house where the film “Go where the wind is” filmed. If you have time, spend a night in Shaxi and enjoy the tranquility of the town in the late evening and early morning.#shaxiancienttown

Located roughly halfway between Dali and Lijiang, Shaxi Ancient Town is a famous attraction once played an important role as a bustling trade point on the Tea Horse Caravan Road. Walking down the streets of Shaxi is indeed like stepping back into history. We really enjoyed our time in this small town with wonderful people. #Shaxiancienttown #yunnan #china
