Tsubakidomari Fishing Village (つばきどまり)

• Tsubakidomari is a fishing village located in the southern part of Anan City, Tokushima Prefecture. It is situated on the north shore of a bay with a deep fault, making it a natural harbor. Fishing is still thriving here.

• Tsubakidomari was one of the bases of the Awa Navy during the Warring States period. This fishing village was known for its strength at sea. The Mori family, as the general of the Awa Navy, used Tsubakidomari as a base to participate in historical events such as the Korean Expedition and the Winter Siege of Osaka, making the Awa Navy's active performance widely known.
3. Town features:
• The town of Tsubakidomari stretches about 1.5 km east and west along a narrow road. The road is very narrow, only wide enough for one car to pass, and you need to turn around in front of a private house's garage at the end, so driving is not recommended.
• The houses in Tsubakidomari are closely connected, with almost no private outdoor spaces such as walls or courtyards, which is a feature of fishing villages with scarce land.
