🚗 Transportation Tips for Visiting Sequoia National Park
#transportation
Heading to the towering trees and scenic trails of Sequoia National Park? Here’s how to make your travel smooth and stress-free!
🚙 Getting There
The most common access points are through the towns of Three Rivers (south entrance via Highway 198) and Fresno/Visalia (north entrance via Highway 180).
🔸 Highway 198 is narrower and windier—avoid if you’re in a large RV.
🔸 Highway 180 is more RV-friendly and direct to the Giant Forest.
🅿️ Parking & Getting Around
🚘 Parking is available at key trailheads, but fills up fast—arrive early!
🚌 Summer Shuttle Service: Free in-park shuttle operates between visitor centers and major sites (like General Sherman Tree, Giant Forest Museum).
💡 Tip: Park at the Foothills Visitor Center and ride the shuttle in peak season.
❄️ Winter Considerations
Chains may be required—check weather and road conditions on the NPS site.
🚫 Some roads like the Generals Highway may be closed during snowstorms.
⛽ Fuel Up First
There are no gas stations in the park. Top off in nearby towns like Three Rivers or Grant Grove Village before entering.
🗺️ Navigation Tips
📵 Cell signal is limited—download offline maps or grab a paper map at a visitor center.
🚫 GPS can be misleading in mountain areas—follow park signage.
🌲 Bonus Local Tip
Entering early through the Big Stump Entrance (Hwy 180) gets you to the scenic Kings Canyon area too—it’s like a two-for-one park visit!
Let the road lead you to ancient giants—Sequoia National Park is worth every mile! 🌄🌲

🏔️ Kings Canyon National Park: California’s Underrated Wild Wonder
#landmarks
Tucked next to its more famous neighbor (Sequoia!), Kings Canyon is rugged, wild, and criminally underrated. Think Yosemite vibes — without the crowds. Here are the top landmarks you need to see 👇
🌲 General Grant Tree
Say hello to the Nation’s Christmas Tree — the second-largest tree on Earth!
🌟 This giant sequoia is 1,600+ years old and still growing.
📍 Found in Grant Grove, it’s an easy, paved loop = perfect intro to the park.
🏞️ Kings Canyon Scenic Byway (Highway 180)
One of the most epic drives in the Sierra Nevada — cliffs, rivers, waterfalls, and deep canyons galore.
🎧 Roll the windows down and blast your adventure playlist.
Heads up: Only open late spring to early fall due to snow!
💦 Roaring River Falls
Quick walk, BIG payoff. This waterfall surges through a granite chute and roars like it means it.
📸 Great for cooling off and snapping that moody mist shot.
🚶♀️ Just a 0.3-mile paved trail = easy win.
🏕️ Zumwalt Meadow
This peaceful valley is surrounded by granite walls and hugged by the Kings River.
🥾 Walk the easy 1.5-mile loop for wildflowers, wildlife, and peak serenity vibes.
💚 Feels like Yosemite without the tourist traffic.
🪨 Muir Rock
Named after the one and only John Muir, this massive boulder sits along the riverbank.
💦 Locals love to leap off it into the Kings River — if you dare (and conditions are safe!).
📖 Channel your inner naturalist and soak in the legacy.
🧭 Travel Tips
✅ Kings Canyon + Sequoia = one park fee, two parks = double the adventure
✅ Summer is prime season — snow can linger well into spring
✅ Gas up before you go — no fuel stations deep in the canyon
✅ Cell signal is iffy — download maps & trails offline
✅ Wildlife is real — bear boxes are mandatory, not optional 🐻

Sequoia National Park – CA
#springitinerary
Spring in Sequoia National Park was magical — snow still lingered in spots, but meadows were waking up with wildflowers and fresh green grass. The giant trees — General Sherman and beyond — felt even more majestic surrounded by patches of spring bloom and quiet trails. I hiked to Tokopah Falls, roaring from snowmelt, and it felt like the forest was stretching after a long sleep. Cool, crisp air and sunshine made it perfect for exploring without summer crowds. #springitinerary tip: bring layers — snow and sun in the same day are common! Peaceful, powerful, unforgettable.

Explore giant trees and natural wonders: a day trip to the Redwood Park.
[Sun] The first stop in the morning is the Giant Forest in the park, heading to the world's heaviest tree - [FourLeafClover] General Sherman Tree. This tree is about 83.8 meters tall and has a chest circumference of 31.3 meters. It can be called a giant in nature. Standing under the tree, you can appreciate this behemoth up close.
[SunGlasses] Continue hiking along the General Sherman Tree Trail, a half-mile loop through an ancient redwood forest past some seriously spectacular trees. The trail is flat and easy to walk, suitable for children. You will see many redwoods and other tall plants along the way.
[CarFront] Drive to Tunnel Log, a fallen redwood tree that formed a natural "tunnel" after it fell, which can be walked or driven through. The fallen trees of the tunnel have become one of the symbols of the park.
[Rainbow] After a light meal, we headed to Moro Rock, one of the most challenging but worthwhile attractions in the park. The climb up more than 400 stone steps is a bit steep but the views at the end are stunning. From the top, you can see the vast forest surrounding the General Sherman Tree and the mountains and canyons in the distance. Great for taking photos~
After visiting Moro Rock, you can take a walk on the trails around the Giant Tree Forest, where there are many giant redwoods and unique natural landscapes.
💁🏻♀️It is recommended to rent a car. The distances between the major attractions in the park are far, so it is more convenient to drive🚘

California
Sequoia NP Travel guide from north to south.
There was less snow this winter, so I didn’t see the snow scene in Sequoia, but it was precisely because of the lack of snow that I could better appreciate the giant trees that seemed to be about thirty stories tall standing in front of me.
This time we took CA -180 from the north to enter the park and exited CA -198 to the south. The advantages of this route are:
Save time by not going back
Avoid the crowds from north to south
There are more accommodations and better conditions in the south.
198 southbound all the way downhill, with 3rd and 4th gears alternately engaged, almost no need to step on the brakes to prevent the brake pads from overheating.
Attractions passed by:
1. Kings Canyon Overlook
2.Sherman Tree Trail (Navigate here to the parking lot, do not direct to the General Sherman Tree, there are only residual trails)
3.The Congress Trail is right near the sherman tree, no need to drive
4.McKinley Tree
5. Sentinel Tree
6.Sequoia National Park’s Tunnel Log
7. Parker Group Sequoias Best Portrait Spots
8. Moro Rock is an underrated attraction and the sunset is absolutely amazing. Highly recommended!
9. There are many lookout spots along the way south.
If you don’t hike in depth on every trail, one day is enough to see all of the above attractions.
There are many large redwood forests in the park that are not tourist attractions and are very photogenic, and there are no tourists.
Recommended accommodation in the south: The Darling Hotel in the town of Visalia, a very good boutique hotel. The rooftop restaurant is delicious. You need to make a reservation in advance.
CHEYENNE WOODARD
Ban Gioc Waterfall
Known as one off-the-beaten-path gems in Southeast Asia, Ban Gioc Waterfall is truly a breathtaking sight 😍
Fun fact! This is also the 4th largest cascade along a national border! Do you know between which two countries? 🧐
