- Bus: There are direct buses to Hukou from the Xi'an East Bus Station, and the journey takes about 5 hours. There are also direct buses to Hukou from the Linfen Bus Station and Yan'an Bus Station, and the journey takes about 2.5 hours and 3 hours, respectively.
- Train: You can first go to the Fuxian East Railway Station and then charter a car to Hukou Waterfall.

- Shanxi side (Jixian County, Linfen): The ticket price is about CNY 100, and the sightseeing bus is CNY 20.
- Shaanxi side (Yichuan County, Yan'an): The ticket price is about CNY 90, and the sightseeing bus is CNY 40.

- Best time to visit: April–May in spring, when the water volume is moderate and the temperature is suitable; September–October in autumn, when the water volume is abundant, the waterfall is majestic, and the weather is cool; and winter, when some areas freeze, forming an icefall landscape.
- Must-see attractions: The main waterfall is magnificent; on the Shanxi side, you can go down to the bottom of the waterfall through the Dragon Cave to feel the water mist; and there is also the Shili Longcao, with its magnificent scenery.
