Such a WONDERFUL hotel I never stayed before. This is a new, eco, comfortable & beautiful place that I don’t want to leave. It is very suitable for any tourists especially for family, I will highly recommended & must visit again next time.
The room was very spacious, and the facilities were decent. The hotel staff were very friendly. There's also a private onsen available for an extra charge. You can buy lift tickets and rent ski equipment directly at the hotel, and the prices are slightly cheaper. The hotel dinners tend to be kaiseki-style, different every day but feeling somewhat similar. Breakfast is a buffet. Overall, it was pretty good, but the lack of a washing machine was inconvenient, especially since clothes can get a bit smelly after skiing.
This hotel has a few downsides. First, if you're staying on the third floor, you'll have to carry your own luggage as the hotel staff are few and you have to do everything yourself. Second, breakfast and dinner are just mediocre, so don't expect too much, especially since this is only a mid-range onsen hotel. Given that the room rates were particularly expensive for New Year's, you really can't have high expectations. Still, being able to come here for Christmas to enjoy the snowy mountain scenery and ancient hot springs is already a wonderful escape from city life. We stayed here for five days, and the most unsatisfactory part was being forced to eat breakfast at a fixed time. That's simply unacceptable when you're on vacation. The Japanese truly are incredibly stubborn!
Located on the top of a business building linking to the Yamagata station.
You won’t have to be worried even if it’s snowing or raining.
A side note to travellers from the hotter climate, the hotel doesn’t supply air conditioning during winter. Instead it has a small webbed facility that allows outside air to flow into the room. This slight chills the room. However during the day, the room will be super hot.
Initially we had a room facing the sun and when we checked in, the room is super hot. Called the customer service only to find out they didn’t have air conditioning during winter and we have to rent a fan from them.
After a slight communication, the customer service is kind enough to upgrade us to a bigger room which is slightly cooler. Big props to the customer service lady! 5 stars service !
This hot spring hotel has a quiet environment and thoughtful service! The spring water is smooth and soothing, the rooms are clean and elegant, and the meals are exquisite and delicious. The friendly smiles of the staff make people feel warm. Highly recommended whether it's a couple's vacation or a family trip, I will definitely visit again!
There is a parking service, but I believe it is not convenient to drive, the only thing is that you can choose not to eat dinner, outside less than ten minutes drive have restaurant options, although the hotel has been a while but maintenance done very well, I do not know if the room has a private soup, public soup used 3 times is no one 😅 , 08:00-10:00 tea and coffee!
It was very close to the Yamagata train station. The check in was quick, front desk was friendly. There were many free amenities to collect (e.g bath salts, hair oil other than the normal toothbrush and toothpaste.) The facility is new and the decor is simple and inviting. There is coin laundry (payable by card or coins) on the 8th floor and you can check availability status of it on your TV in your room. Lastly there is a 7 eleven at the ground floor so you can get a snack without wearing your thick jacket in the winter. 😊
An old style hotel with a beautiful Onsen and nice foot spa. Friendly staff who tried their best to explain things in English. Nice free transfer service to and from Yamagata station but need to book 3 days prior. Breakfast and Dinner options are fantastic and very tasty. Also walkable to the Cable car station.
The room was a good size and had no problem opening two large suitcases. The mattress was comfortable but the pillows were too thin.
Breakfast starts at 6:30, which is good for a business hotel, especially the variety of breads is quite attractive.
There are only about 10 parking spaces outside the hotel. Once they are full, you can park in another large parking lot about 60 meters away.
I was very impressed with my stay at this hotel. The service was good, the rooms were clean, and the breakfast was varied. If I come back here again, I will definitely stay here again. Most importantly, there is a window with a view and the room is spacious and comfortable.

What a gem of a place! The special thing about this place is that there are 5 private outdoor onsens as well as a gender-segregated public bath and one mixed gender outdoor bath (for this one, you need to wear a bathing suit). If you are shy of exposing yourself or like taking photos, then those 5 private outdoor onsens are just perfect. I went in the autumn, which is cooling already and I can imagine what a treat it will be in winter with all the snow. The hotel is located almost to the top of the hill. Either drive or call them ahead and they will pick you up and drop you off in the vicinity. My room is quaint and Japanese-styled. I didn't pay for the meal package as I knew I'd would be busy trying out all the onsens available. They are all open 24hrs. By the way, private onsen number 1 and 5 are the best and most picturesque!!! I'm doing all a favor and posting all the pictures of the private onsens.
Very good value for money. A modern Japanese hotel with large rooms. Views from the hotel are amazing and the Onsen was hot and clean. Staff very professional and friendly.
The room was beautiful, with tatami, yukata, tabi, and a little bag with towels to take with you when you go to their proper outdoor onsen that's right across the street. The onsen has good amenities, has 2 baths one indoor that's around 42 - 45 degrees, and outdoor one that's usually cooler around 38 - 42. The best thing about that onsen is that there usually not many people there, often I was there alone. The breakfast was great too, there were at least around 20 - 30 different dishes/foods to choose from. The hotel also sells discounted ski passes, and has it's own ski/snowboard rental service for lower price than most of the rental services nearby (the snowboard was of great quality, the shoes not so much). When we checked out, the hotel arranged a van to take us to the bus terminal as well. Overall, one of the best hotels I've ever stayed at in Japan. 👌🏻
Really great hotel in Zao onsen. The location is easy to find and free parking for guest. The room is big and clean. I love the window in our room see the snow falling and small pond as well. We didn’t booking the dinner & breakfast so I don’t know the food taste. However, onsen is really great!! I love outdoor onsen that you can see the view of Zao mountain while bathing and snow falling to your head!! but just scare of bear. So nice to stayed here!
Good location in Zao ski village - just opposite the bus terminal. Friendly and helpful staff, though speak very little English. We chose breakfast and dinner, pre-select from the menu. Both breakfast and dinner are delicious! Free transport is provided to ski lifts hourly. We have tatami room for 3 persons, quite spacious and great view from the window! Very warm and comfortable place to spend for few days.
The room was comfy, excellent service. I checked out in a rush this morning, front desk told me I have left something behind in my room. I responded, being sure I hadn't, until an elderly man I saw earlier from housekeeping came running down the stairs and handed me my travel charger and cables. A big thank you so much and sending me to the bus terminal in time. I love the view of the wintry slope from my room window especially.
I like SUPER hotel brand and enjoy it many times in my Japan trips till this stay This hotel location was again pretty nice, breakfast was fruitful and delicious, the ladies who served in the restaurant were all aggressive and helpful of keeping tables clean and many sorts of meals sufficiently BUT, the old man maybe at age ~60 who handled the check in process around 17:00 on Oct 6 evening was extremely bad and very arrogant that I never ”suffered” from this kind of service during my dozens of stays in the different cities of Japan that I realize, oh, there are still some Japaneses who may be not so friendly to foreigns. really an unforgettable experience on that day, the owner of that hotel branch should enhance the job training of this kind of employee in order to secure service quality, I even feel not comfortable when sharing my experience via this review
Loved this place!! The host was so lovely and held conversation with us even with our broken Japanese haha, gave us maps / guides for the Dewa Sanzan and even asked us about our itinerary for the next day (as we were going to climb the other 2 mountains, he made sure we knew the bus timings). It was such a nice traditional ryokan, with comfy tatami, public ofuro (hot steaming bath that felt great after climbing Hagurosan), yukata, and even tea powder and biscuits set out in the room :”) Our room had a wash basin and sofa chairs as well, but not sure if that's for all rooms. We paid 660yen each for breakfast taken away (2 big onigiri balls!) but couldn't have dinner added on (so make sure you check beforehand, because most places in the town close by 5pm). Overall 100% recommend staying here! Loved our stay, thank you :)

The location of the hotel is excellent—it is located right inside the train station. All the shopping areas are within the same mall where the hotel is situated, which is extremely convenient. The hotel room is spacious, and the view is beautiful, allowing you to enjoy the town scenery directly from the room.
