Hotel Heritage Resort: A Forest Spa Resort Just One Hour from Tokyo
Nestled in the deep forests of the Musashi Hills in Saitama Prefecture, Hotel Heritage Resort offers a serene escape. Despite being located just one hour from central Tokyo, this resort hotel feels like a different world, surrounded by peaceful nature and tranquil scenery.
■ Main Attraction: Large Open-Air Hot Spring Bath
The resort’s signature natural hot spring “Tokinoyu” features one of the largest open-air bath areas in the Tokyo metropolitan region. In addition to separate cypress baths and jet baths for men and women, there is also a spacious open-air bathing area designed for relaxation. Guests can also enjoy the impressive waterfall bath and a spa bar where they can unwind with a drink while soaking in the atmosphere.
■ A Resort Stay of Dining and Healing
The resort’s cuisine features pesticide-free vegetables grown at the hotel’s own farm along with other fresh local ingredients. Guests can enjoy authentic Japanese, Western, and Chinese cuisine as well as buffet-style dining that highlights seasonal flavors.
Guest rooms include spacious Western-style and traditional Japanese-style rooms, allowing visitors to choose the accommodation that best suits their stay.
■ Extensive Activities
A variety of seasonal activities are available throughout the year. In summer, guests can enjoy the outdoor pool, while spring and autumn offer activities such as golf and tennis.
Whether visiting for a relaxing day trip or an extended stay, the resort provides a refreshing environment where guests can relax and recharge both body and mind.
GGuest UserThe most important thing to remember about the Mark Grand is that Google Maps will show two Mark Grand hotels and one of them is wrong. Make sure that you find the correct address. The Mark Grand is a renamed and arguably improved upscale hotel in Saitama. It's a few train stops from Ueno and there's more than one way to get there depending if you're coming from say Shinjuku or Ueno. The rooms are immaculate with drip coffee, a humidifier, and you are given the option to have your room cleaned on specific days (not every day). JP customer service, as always, is excellent and although the breakfast buffet doesn't change, the options are more than enough to keep your palate satisfied for a week's stay. There's a Lawson at the second floor and an excellent gym, pool, and spa (not really an onsen). Unfortunately, the sports center isn't free and you have to pay a small fee (1200 yen) to use it but it's more than worth it. It's extremely popular with the older locals and make sure you visit in less busy times. There is a Cocoon mall nearby which is not busy and since the hotel is located in the CBD, you only come across salarymen rather than the annoying Western tourists. I also highly recommend the Railway Museum in Saitama, which is a short 2 stops away. If you're familiar with JP trains and don't mind the short commute, I highly recommend the hotel.
TTJ keiIt's an old hotel, so there are traces of an old resort hotel. The facilities are old, but the interior is nice. There is a hot spring on the premises, which guests can use. There are no shops nearby, so we ate at the restaurant in the hot spring facility. It's inconvenient if you don't have a car, but you can get there by bus from Shinrin-koen Station on the Tobu Tojo Line. You can also get to the Fukaya Hanazono outlet by bus, so it's a good place to enjoy hot springs and shopping relatively close to the city center.
