About

Being surrounded by the mountains (the perfect place for a medieval settlement) Brasov is one of the best-preserved cities in Europe. Brasov provides a mix of wonderful mountain scenery in the nearby Poiana Braşov and medieval history with German influences in the old town. Peles Castle (the summer Royal residence), Cantacuzino Castle and Bran (Dracula”s) Castle are other interesting locations that you will have the chance to visit by taking this tour.

Day 1: Bucharest– Sinaia –Brasov

Departure from Bucharest to Sinaia, also known as “The Pearl of the Carpathians”. This is a beautiful mountain resort located in the Carpathian mountains at 800 meters altitude. Here you will visit Sinaia Monastery (with the old and the new church) and Peles Castle, built by the first King of Romania, Carol I, to be a summer Royal residence. The castle has an impressive architectural style and built to be a very modern construction (for that time) being the first castle in Europe having electric power.

From Sinaia, we head to Brasov, an old medieval citadel, first documented in 1235, the most important commercial center from all the seven German Medieval Cities of Transylvania (Siebenbuergen). Visit the Old Town (the Historical Centre), followed by dinner & accommodation.

Day 2: Brasov – Busteni – Bran – Bucharest

After breakfast, we will go to visit Cantacuzino castle. Located in Busteni, on Prahova Valley, was built in neoromanian style and inaugurated in 1911 at the wish of Prince Gheorghe Grigore Cantacuzino (also known as “the Nabob”-prime minister of Romania between 1899-1900 and 1904-1907). The castle is surrounded by a park who’s alleys take you to the grotto, cascades, and fountains.

The visit will be followed by lunch and a visit to Bran (Dracula’s Castle). The medieval Castle Bran was built for military purposes at the end of the 14th century to defend the border between Transylvania and Wallachia, being associated with the “Legend of Dracula” the novel by Bram Stoker. At the end of the day, return to Bucharest.
