In the early morning, we will travel by tour bus to Tianmen Mountain National Forest Park, known as the "First Sacred Mountain of Western Hunan." Upon arrival, we will transfer to the Tianmen Mountain Cableway—a moving "scenic corridor." As the cable car slowly ascends, the scenery outside the window gradually changes from urban landscapes to dense forests and canyons, often shrouded in mist, resembling a fairyland. During the journey, you can overlook the winding mountain roads and lush primary and secondary forests. If the weather is clear, you can also enjoy a magnificent view of Tianmen Cave in the distance.
Upon reaching the summit, our first stop was Tianmen Cave, the soul of Tianmen Mountain. This rare natural cave, 131.5 meters high and 57 meters wide, rises abruptly from the ground, resembling a gateway to heaven. During foggy weather, clouds and mist often swirl within the cave; when sunlight shines, rays of light can be seen streaming through, creating spectacular sights such as "Tianmen Spitting Mist" and "Tianmen Glowing Light." It is not only a landmark of Tianmen Mountain but also imbued with the cultural significance of "the gate to heaven."
Next, we will experience the thrilling glass walkway. Built on a cliff face at an altitude of over 1400 meters, this 60-meter-long walkway is entirely paved with highly transparent tempered glass. Walking on it, with a bottomless canyon below, it feels like walking suspended in mid-air. To maintain the clarity of the glass, visitors must wear shoe covers (a service fee is required on-site; please bring exact change or ensure your mobile phone can make electronic payments). This is not only a challenge to your courage but also a superb viewing platform.
In the afternoon, we will descend the Tongtian Avenue, known as the "World's First Highway Wonder." This winding mountain road, carved into the mountainside, is approximately 11 kilometers long and features 99 curves, meandering like a jade belt encircling the green mountains. Riding in an eco-friendly bus, we can experience the driving pleasure of the curves and admire the rich vertical changes in vegetation along the way, feeling the vibrant vitality and diversity of nature.
