Reviews: Longyearbyen: Bjørndalen Arctic Walk and snack

Our guide was very knowledgeable about where to find wildlife and how the animals behave. It was so exciting to see an Arctic fox, ptarmigan, and reindeer during our hike. I also learned a lot about the history of Svalbard and the environmental changes taking place there. Highly recommended!

We unfortunately didn’t see many animals apart from some beautiful birds, but I understand that’s just the nature of wildlife tours. So, for me personally, it didn’t take too much away from the experience. It was also just the two of us that day, along with our guide, Dario, who was kind, friendly, and incredibly knowledgeable about Svalbard’s history. He did his very best to make up for the somewhat “lost” wildlife experience by taking us on a little hike, complete with hot berry juice and cookies. The weather was beautiful too, which definitely added another layer to the experience. It’s not a cheap tour by any means, but I can’t say I regretted going, especially considering all the factors mentioned above. So, if you’re a little more flexible and enjoy the idea of connecting with people who live in Svalbard while driving and walking through breathtaking scenery, I’d definitely give it a go. And if you’re lucky, you might even get to see some wildlife along the way, too :)

Reviews: Longyearbyen: Iconic Hike to Platåfjellet

The guide was perfect; his English was excellent, he went at the pace that worked for me, and had all the equipment required to do it safely (his snow spikes were very cool to use!). This hike was a bit shorter than the other one I did (Blomsterdalshøgda) coming in at just over 2km, but it offered a more challenging ascent in the snow and ice conditions. We always went at whatever pace worked for me. The views at the top were arguably more impressive too! A great way to get up high and enjoy those incredible views! Highly recommend.

Reviews: Longyearbyen: Wildlife Safari & Slow Hiking Photography Tour

I loved this activity. The guide was very professional and helpful. His knowledge of Svalbard and wildlife was unmatched most if not all of the guides I I ever met. We were able to see an Arctic fox and reindeers because of his extensive knowledge of wildlife in Svalbard. His knowledge of photography was also very extensive. He had many helpful suggestions on how to take more interesting photographs. He should do a collaboration with Cecelia Blomdahl on her next book on Svalbard. His photos and wildlife knowledge would take the book sales off the charts.
