Xishan Mountain in Ezhou was called Fanshan Mountain in ancient times. It was named Xishan Mountain because it is located to the west of the ancient capital of Wu Wang, the current urban area of Ezhou City in Hubei Province. Xishan Mountain is located on the south bank of the middle reaches of the Yangtze River, 68 kilometers away from Wuhan, a metropolis in central China. It faces the Red Cliff of Huangzhou in the north, and is adjacent to Yanglan Lake in the south, connected to the vast expanse of blue water. It is connected to the prosperous downtown in the east, and is supported by the 100-mile Fanchuan River in the west, with the river and the lake, rising from the ground. Xishan Mountain has nine bends, nine peaks and six valleys, and mountains and pine and cypress trees cover the sky. There are green gullies and red cliffs, and waterfalls. The whole mountain is about 1.6 kilometers long from east to west and about 1.2 kilometers wide from north to south. The main peak is 170 meters high, and the total area is more than 4,000 acres.
