Things to do in Liangcheng

Daihai has attracted countless tourists since ancient times. Officials, scholars and poets of all dynasties have come to enjoy its natural beauty of "flocks of wild geese, strong winds and waves, waves more than ten feet high, like forests and heavy clouds". It is the largest inland lake in central Inner Mongolia, with a lake area of ​​160 square kilometers and 29 species of fish. The lake is surrounded by vast beaches and lush forests.

First of all, it's a pity that I didn't take more beautiful pictures. In fact, the real scenery is still good. The hot spring water is pure natural and the environment is very good. When we came, it was not a weekend and there were few people. The water was very clean and the food was very friendly. It is worth recommending! I will come again when the spring comes.

I'll say it three times: Don't take the cable car up there, it's pointless. The cable car only goes up to the 7th floor. In the time it takes you to queue, you can climb up to the 7th floor (the 8th floor is the highest point). Then you can climb directly to the 11th floor without backtracking, which only takes a little over two hours. From the 11th floor, you can take bus 899 back to the city.

The Yungang Grottoes are truly breathtaking! Standing at the foot of the open-air Buddha statue and looking up, I was instantly captivated by the majestic grandeur of the Northern Wei stone carvings. The details of the statues are exquisite and lifelike, with ingenious designs evident in every flying apsara and relief. The scenic area has excellent facilities, and the guided tours are very professional; only by listening can you truly understand the stories hidden within the stones. Seeing it with your own eyes is what it means to witness a thousand years in a glance. A must-see when visiting Datong!

The package deal was quite reasonable. We bought the Nanshan Route 1 ticket, but Route 1 includes the zoo, which requires going down the mountain to transfer to Route 2 to go up again, meaning we had to climb the mountain once more or take a ride on a tarpaulin, so we didn't go. The wind was best on the mountain, and the cosmos flowers around the cable car station were beautiful! The high-altitude swing, the thrilling "Step by Step" ride, and the rainbow slide were all very exciting! The middle school students had a great time! A single ride takes about 2 hours.

It's worth visiting. I went there when I was younger, but I lacked knowledge then. Now, the more I see, the more I appreciate it. The silver Buddha, dragon carvings, and murals are known as the "Three Wonders." The architecture blends Han and Tibetan styles, and the incense and ancient charm coexist. It's worth a thorough visit.

Huayan Temple is truly a must-see attraction in Datong! Occupying a prime location within the ancient city, its thousand-year-old architecture is breathtaking, especially the main halls, which are incredibly photogenic. I highly recommend hiring a guide to explore it thoroughly; it's truly awe-inspiring.

The scenic area isn't large; the main attraction is the tower. The building itself is magnificent, and after learning some background information, it feels even more like a miracle. However, the excessive number of signs around the perimeter significantly detracts from the overall aesthetic appeal.
