The museum, built in the Han Dynasty style, is small, and the exhibits are simply arranged. From ancient fossils and pottery to Han Dynasty jade and bronze artifacts, walking through the exhibition halls allows you to roughly understand Suqian's history from prehistoric times, through the Chu-Han period, to the Grand Canal. It's not crowded, quiet, and comfortable; you don't need to rush, so take your time. If you want a simple understanding of the city's history, it's well worth a visit.
If, like me, you happen to be there during a Jiangsu Province-wide exhibition, you're incredibly lucky! You can see the best pieces without the hassle of crowding, and you can easily find the most prized artifacts from major museums.
