Spotlights' Theatre Camp 2024 is a one-week, performance-based camp that serves as an introduction to the exciting world of musical theater. This camp is designed for children who have completed Grades 1 through 6 and will be held from August 5th to August 9th, 2024 at the Broadview Heights Cultural Arts Building, the home of the Spotlights Theater in Broadview Heights, Ohio. Led by experienced teachers and assisted by talented teenage volunteer interns, this camp offers a carefully articulated program that allows returning campers to develop their performance skills through fun and age-appropriate activities. Participants will engage in music, dance/movement, and acting workshops while also working on craft projects to create costumes, props, and scenery for the final production. It's important to note that not all children will be assigned speaking roles, as roles will be cast at the discretion of the directing team on the first day of camp. However, this camp is a great opportunity for children of all experience levels, as no prior experience is necessary. The week-long camp will culminate in two performances of Disney's Jungle Book KIDS on Friday evening. Participants will be required to take part in these performances, which will take place in the Spotlights' newly-constructed performance space. Each participant will receive two complimentary tickets for the performances, and reservations are required. Additional tickets may be purchased during camp, subject to availability. To ensure a smooth refund process, please note that refunds, minus an approximate $13 fee, can be processed up to 7 days before the start of the camp. After this deadline, no refunds will be processed. Space is limited, so early registration is encouraged. This event goes beyond foot assessment and treatment; it's an opporunity to elevate your skills, refine your vision as a clinican or coach, and cultivate the consistency and discipline essential your own life to build a niche practice. At “Finding Your Footing,” you’ll gain expertise in the assessment and biomechanics of the foot, understand how it impacts performance, and learn exercise prescription philosophies to mitigate and rehabilitate lower limb injuries in active populations. With a thoughtfully designed environment that includes movement breaks and clear, practical instruction, this workshop ensures your learning is engaging, interactive, and effective. Learn directly from our BASE CEO Dr. Joel 'Dr. J' Kerr who has over 16 years of experience in the clinical setting, amateur and professional sport setting as a manual medicine clinician, movement, strength and sport performance enhancement coach. Dr. J has a Bachelor of Physical Health and Education from the University of Toronto, Doctorate of Chiropractic degree from the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College, and holds a neurofunctional acupuncture diploma from McMaster Medical School. Workshop Goals: (1) Comprehend the interconnectedness between passive, active, and neural structures of the foot and ankle and how these structures influence strength training, athletic performance, and injury mitigation. (2) Introduce a systematic approach that creates clarity and direction in the assessment, diagnosis, and active interventions of the foot and ankle. Whether he's riffing on his own experiences or taking on the latest news, Sky's comedy is a whirlwind of laughs you won't want to miss! Chris Gerassimou grew up the son of blue-collar Greek immigrants, where the only thing sharper than his parents' work ethic was his sense of humour. He started comedy in the border city of Windsor, Ontario and quickly became a local favourite while performing all over the Midwest. After recently moving to Toronto, his relatable joke writing and quick-witted crowd work have gotten him noticed by all the top clubs in the city. In 2024, he headlined the crowd work show at the Brewing for Comedy Festival, and his stellar performances have earned him spots opening for industry heavyweights like Dave Merheje, Kyle Lucey, Ben Bankas, Paul Elia, and Andrew Packer. Prepare yourself for an evening of queer classics with our legendary Tempo twist! From summer favourites to infectious pop melodies, we are ready to dazzle and delight as we celebrate our commitment to diversity and inclusivity through the power of music. Please note that Hugh's Room is not fully accessible. There are steps into the venue and a small staircase from the lobby into the main hall. The staircases are wide and with railings.
