Join the upcoming book launch event, "Book Launch: Michelle Horton, DEAR SISTER," presented by Grand Central Publishing in partnership with the Nicole Addimando Community Defense Fund & Oblong Books. This event will take place on February 1, 2024, at the River Valley Arts Center in Wappingers Falls, NY. Michelle Horton, a writer and advocate, will discuss her powerful memoir that delves into secrets, survival, and unbreakable bonds.
In her memoir, Horton shares the story of her sister, Nikki, who ended up in jail after shooting her abusive partner. As the investigation unfolds, Michelle realizes the extent of the horrific abuse Nikki had endured for years. Determined to bring her sister home, Michelle battles against a criminal justice system that seems to punish the entire family. This gripping memoir explores the sisters' childhood and questions how they, along with many others, could have been blind to the abuse.
Michelle Horton's advocacy extends beyond her own story. Through the Nicole Addimando Community Defense Committee, she continues to raise awareness for survivors of domestic violence who are criminalized for their acts of survival. Kellyann Kostyal-Larrier, the Executive Director of Fearless! Hudson Valley, Inc., will join the conversation to shed light on the importance of building an informed, just, and accountable society.
Don't miss this opportunity to hear Michelle Horton's powerful story and join the movement for social change. Books will be available for purchase at the event, courtesy of Oblong Books. A portion of the ticket and book sales will be donated to the Nicole Addimando Community Defense Fund. Secure your spot now for an evening of enlightenment and support.
