Nevada City Craft Fair is a juried exhibition of makers curated in the aesthetics of the modern rustic lifestyle that NCCF embodies. Hip, sustainable, yet innovative and whimsical represents the best of the region in our biennial craft fair held at the historic Miners Foundry in downtown Nevada City.
The first Nevada City Craft Festival was produced in the summer of 2010 by a group of local young crafters, artists and social do-gooders who were inspired by the independent entrepreneurship and creative talents in their community as well as the success of the Renegade Craft Fairs across the US and Europe. The event continues to grow and to date has introduced over 10,000 attendees to more than 600 local and regional artists, designers and crafters.
Nevada City Craft Fair is committed to presenting the freshest voices of the local hand-made movement, under one roof. Come celebrate with us!

Zepparella
Drummer Clementine is the founding member of
ZEPPARELLA
. From the beginning of her musical career, her goal has been to be onstage every night. The pursuit of that goal has led Clementine to constantly tour the US and Europe in projects as diverse as Bottom, AC/DShe, The House Of More, The Solid, Francis Bakin, Stars Turn Me On and Beaux Cheveux. She tackles the best rock drumming ever written with her own emotionally powerful style, bringing the Motown influence of the Bonham groove to the forefront. The profound musical connection established with Gretchen Menn (guitar), Holly West (bass), and Anna Kristina (vocals) creates the bond required to do this great music justice.
It was under the tutelage of classical guitarist Phillip DeFremery, a student of Andrés Segovia, that guitarist Gretchen Menn began her path on the instrument. Playing with tireless passion and constantly seeking out new challenges, her projects are often unconventional, genre-bending expressions combining elements of classical, rock, progressive, jazz, and metal. On influences, Gretchen has never tired of her initial inspirations—Eric Johnson, Steve Morse, Frank Zappa, and Jeff Beck. But she has loved Jimmy Page’s guitar playing longer than she has played the guitar. It was through the music of Led Zeppelin that she found a gateway into music that resonated deeply with her, creating a love for guitar-oriented music, and, ultimately, the guitar.
Bassist Holly West began her musical journey full-steam ahead, and more recently than her stellar playing belies. Her unstoppable will and drive have truly propelled her to this moment and her place in the powerhouse Zepparella. A self-taught bass player, she is also a blossoming vocalist with rich rock pipes. Her time on stage has been well spent, developing an impressive attack, impeccable feel, and a technique which seems to have come completely naturally to her, not to mention her dazzling stage presence and joyful performance style. Her influences span the rock gauntlet, from Clutch and the Rival Sons to Slash, ZZ Top, and of course, the mighty Zeppelin.
Singer Anna Kristina is a soulful, fiery, and rocking vocal powerhouse who has stepped into Zepparella’s Plant spot for a second time. Anna was with the band for 5 years, became known for her performance in the band’s 15 million-view “When The Levee Breaks” video, took a 6-year hiatus, and now returns in 2018 to front the band. Her career has spanned acoustic, jazz, soul, rock, and her charisma and power delivers captivating performances every night. About her brilliant harp playing she says: “getting a chance to blow on the harmonica is an added bonus! Plant isn’t just a singer he’s a musician. He brings his blues background and natural percussive feel to his harmonica playing as well and I love getting lost in that. Playing the harp allows me to express on a whole different level and it’s so freeing.”
Now more than ever,
Zepparella
explores their own improvised magic within the framework of Zeppelin’s mighty songs!

Alice's Adventures in Wonderland - Saturday June 21 | Don Baggett Theatre
Jun 21, 2025 (UTC-7)ENDED
Nevada City
On June 21, 2025 at the Don Baggett Theater, Holt Ballet Conservatory presents a telling of the beloved classics,
Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland
and
Through the Looking-Glass.
Authored over 160 years ago by Lewis Carroll, the characters of these iconic stories live on, decade after decade, in book, film, animation, and our own imaginations. Bringing Alice and her Wonderland friends to life through music and dance, Holt Ballet captures the heart of the story while giving Wonderland a modern twist.
The Story
Alice, 17 years old, finds herself caught between following her heart and obeying her elders. Defying her godmother, refusing her cousin’s marriage proposal, and running away from the family garden party, Alice begins to regret her new found grownup stubbornness and wishes she could just be a little girl again. When a white rabbit, in white gloves and coat-tails, appears in the garden, admonishing her for already being late, and encouraging her to hasten, Alice takes a chance, and follows.
To make her own life choices, Alice must believe in herself. Her tumble down the rabbit hole to Wonderland becomes an adventure that presents opportunities for her to challenge her adversaries and fight for her place in the world. To prevail over the Jabberwocky, the Red Queen, the Bandersnatch, and command the Vorpal Blade, Alice rises to the call of battle.
We all know the story and the characters, but Holt Ballet’s telling of it will delight and entertain audiences, show after show.
The ballet story, written by Yelena Holt, is brought to life through the work of 8 different choreographers, delightful music from decades past and present, and the dancing of over 60 students of Holt’s classical ballet conservatory. The costumes are worth the ticket price, just in themselves.
Through music from all genres, the choreographers use their craft to develop the plot of our story: neoclassical for depth and power, Madonna for fun and playfulness, Neal Diamond for a blast from the past, with avant garde, jazz, classical, rock, pop, and electronic music all gathered together to tell the story of the Caterpillar, the Cheshire Cat, The Mad Hatter, the Dancing Flowers, the Jabberwocky, and all the characters of Wonderland.

Teen Gathering – Smith River – Wilderness Passage & Survival Quest. | Burton Educational Preserve
Jun 22, 2025 (UTC-7)ENDED
Nevada City
This summer we are returning to the Smith River area where the Redwoods meet the coastal mountains of the way upper northwestern corner of California. We will be offering two courses for Teens that run together ; Wilderness Passages and a Survival Quest. Wilderness Passage is meant for teens ready for a edge pushing “rite of passage” and the Survival Quest is geared for teens that have completed the Wilderness Passage and want to go further.
This year we want to make sure we have some time for the group to have social and “gathering” vibe with a mix of teens before and after the intensity of passages and quests. This creates time to prepare and integrate the experience into daily life—and Teens need this kind of “hang-out” social time in the woods-with no cell phones, off grid deep in one of the most beautiful Wilderness Areas.
Every human has four elemental needs: shelter, water, fire and food. Our ancestors were deeply connected to these needs. They knew how to find and create solutions to meet them, as well as how to pass these essential skills on to the next generation. Without this lineage we would not be here today. Our modern world seems to have forgotten much of this.
Wilderness Passage is a journey that reconnects youth with these skills, creating confidence, self sufficiency, and transformation. We light the ceremonial fire for each passage and provide parental guidance for supporting this transformation before and after the passage.
Wilderness Passage is for young teens,
aged 12-15
.
Survival Quest is for experienced teens,

Elevating School Culture in Contentious Times | Nevada City
Jun 25, 2025 (UTC-7)ENDED
Nevada City
As school leaders, we will share the needs of our respective communities in terms of school culture and resulting issues that arise in and out of the classroom. Post-covid, we have seen a need to address new social and interpersonal dynamics within our institutions. Add the layers of technology, specifically social media and AI, and contentious world events, and it’s not a surprise our communities are struggling with how to meaningfully connect.
The symptoms include a trend of unkind and biased behaviors in schools that are sometimes identity based and exacerbated by social media. We must prioritize addressing this problem in the culture of our schools, starting with the internal work of our own leadership, and extending out into our spheres of influence.
This retreat is designed to offer dedicated time and space away from our everyday surroundings in order to ground and connect with what we really matters. This retreat is purposefully located in the Sierra Nevada Foothills on a beautifully appointed private property situated against natural forest, surrounded by an inspiring skyline. The intentional setting is meant to inspire an interruption to routines and patterns so we can be more available to think creatively about our school communities and the power of culture and counter-culture. This dedicated time will allow educators to share their experiences and find common ground; elaborate the connections between different cultural challenges involving students, faculty and staff, and parents and identify root causes; develop a shared vocabulary around the key elements of a healthy school culture, and of course throughout this process we will build community through practices that participants can take back to their home institutions.
SCHEDULE
DAY 1: June 25, 2025 | Begins at 4:00pm
DAY 2: June 26, 2025
DAY 3: June 27, 2025
DAY 4: June 28, 2025 | Ends at 10:00am
AUDIENCE
This is an excellent opportunity to regroup after the school year as we look ahead towards meaningful student life programming for the 2025-26 school year. This offering is intended for school administrators and faculty who want to take practical steps towards improving school culture within their scope as school-wide leaders (Heads of School, Division Heads/Directors, Deans of Students, DEIB Practitioners, Student Government mentors, Grade Level Deans, club leaders etc), starting with the internal leadership work required to lead authentically and effectively. Faculty and administrators invested in the work of student retreats, advisory, student leadership/government programming, faculty inservice and general start of the year tone setting and community building will find this retreat particularly helpful.
By registering for this workshop, you will also be added to our mailing list to receive updates about future programs, resources, and events. You can unsubscribe at any time.
