“History In Focus: People, Politics, and Pivotal Events Through the Lens of Chris Niedenthal” is a rare opportunity to see the world through the lens of one of Europe's most celebrated photojournalists and meet him in person. This is more than just an exhibition—it’s a journey through time! Join us to hear Chris Niedenthal open the exhibition of 60 of his remarkable, carefully curated photographs. He will share fascinating stories in a conversation moderated by Dr. Steven Seegel, Associate Chair of Slavic and Eurasian Studies, who will also introduce the event. Most of the presented photographs are images from Central and Eastern Europe, spanning the 1960s through today. The reception following the discussion will match the theme with authentic Polish food provided by Apolonia Catering. The event is free and open to the public, and plenty of free parking is available. Chris Niedenthal is a renowned British-Polish photojournalist best known for documenting life behind the Iron Curtain and the fall of communism in Central and Eastern Europe. Following the imposition of martial law in Poland, Niedenthal was one of the few foreign photojournalists to capture the reality of the time for Western media, managing to smuggle many of his photos abroad. His work has been featured on the covers of Newsweek, Time Magazine, and other leading media outlets. He is a recipient of the 1986 World Press Photo Prize of the Year. Join the 5k Beer Run x Pinthouse Round Rock, part of the 2024 Texas Brewery Running Series. Lace up your running shoes and experience a fun-filled day of running, beer, and good vibes at Pinthouse Round Rock in the beautiful city of Round Rock. This untimed, fun-run event welcomes runners, walkers, and joggers of all levels. The 5k course will take you through scenic routes, allowing you to enjoy the surrounding neighborhood while getting your heart pumping. After crossing the finish line, reward yourself with a well-deserved craft beer from Pinthouse. As part of the event, all participants will receive a craft brew at the finish line, along with a choice of a collector's pint glass or seasonal swag item from the Brewery Running Series. Welcome to PMA Round Rock's, December 2024 Graduation Ceremony NOTE: Location - Will be at HOPEWELL MIDDLE SCHOOL N/B: THERE IS NO CHARGE FOR FAMILY MEMBERS TO WATCH THE EVENT - REG FEE IS STRICHTLY FOR STUDENTS. We are excited to see our students at this Graduation and for them to show you some of their skill sets. Remember the Mon-Wed (2-3 days before), is their Stripe Testing Day (All classes and stripes have been earned by this point). Graduation & belt CEREMONY. Doors Open at 9:50am - Event Starts Promptly at 10am. Please arrive early, there will be a line to get in, but there is plenty of seating for everyone. IF FOR SOME REASON YOU ARE UNABLE TO ATTEND THE GRADAUTION CEREMONY - You/Your Child will be presented their belt and certificate the following week. VERY IMPORTANT: EVERY STUDENT MUST - Turn in completed Graduation form, regardless of taking part or not. Our goal is to help children become good human beings. Strong mentally, physically and emotionally and to build confidence. Graduation is for students who have given satisfactory behavior at the martial arts school, their home, and school. We can only see their progress at PMA. In the event you feel your child needs to work on any one of these areas please let us know so that we may work together to help your child be successful. Please be sure your child has the following completed: -Turned in intent to promote form to PMA, signed by parent and teacher -Have all 3 Black Belt Excellence stripes from their BBE homework sheets (White belts will not - but must have 12 class min attendance).-Have all 3 stripes from monthly stripe test - 12-16 stripes on belt for our Tiny Champs (3-4 yr olds). **FORMS and Payment registration MUST BE TURNED IN BY December 4th to take adavantage of the early bird rate. Regular Rate applies Dec 5th - 9th. No belts can be guaranteed beyond this date.
