The event will include an audience Q&A, giving you the chance to ask your own questions to one of YA fantasy's most compelling voices, followed by a chance to get your book signed by Tahereh. Whether you're a devoted fan or discovering her captivating dystopian world for the first time, don't miss this opportunity to experience the magic behind the books that have captivated millions of readers around the world. Book and ticket customers will receive a pair of limited-edition art prints. Times: 5.30pm – doors 6pm – event starts 7pm – interview ends, signing begins Venue: Friends’ Meeting House, 6 Mount Street, Manchester, M2 5NS There will be a book signing after the talk, but due to time limitations, Tahereh will only be able to sign one copy of Watch Me plus one other book per person/ticket holder. Book & ticket customers will receive the copy of Watch Me and a pair of art prints at the event. About Watch Me Who are we when no one is watching? James Anderson had a plan. Or half of one. He managed to do what his older brother, the famous Aaron Warner Anderson, never did: infiltrate Ark Island, the last refuge of The Reestablishment. No outsider has breached the stronghold of the authoritarian regime, but James is in. In a prison cell, sure, but as far as James is concerned, a win is a win. Rosabelle Wolff had a plan. She always has a plan. On Ark Island, where constant surveillance is packaged as security, even emotions must be experienced with caution. Her every movement is monitored—and when she’s given an order to kill, she never hesitates. It’s been ten years since the notorious duo Juliette Ferrars and Aaron Warner Anderson led a worldwide rebellion and established the New Republic of the West. But The Reestablishment is ready to make a devastating move, and they have the perfect assassin for the job. Information Source: Waterstones | eventbrite

May 22, 2025 (UTC+1)ENDED
Manchester
Cultural Experiences
In the built environment the roles and responsibilities for design and construction of a project continue to subdivide. The fragmented roles of the industry combined with complexity of retrofit makes collaboration essential for a successful low energy scheme. What better way to unpick the lessons learned from retrofit than by hearing the three key perspectives of a team: the client, the designer and the contractor. We are excited to be hearing from three people who are working in different stages of the low energy delivery: Client - Florence Collier from Humblebee will be talking from a client’s perspective having carried out her own retrofit. Florence will discuss the challenges of appointing designers and installers. Designer - Eric Fewster from ColdProof will be talking from a PHPP designers view of making a design appropriate for a deep retrofit. Contractor - Brian Mc Closkey from The Retrofit Hub will share first-hand experience as a builder working on low energy retrofits, sharing lessons of turning drawings into reality. There will be drinks and nibbles to start and the opportunity to ask questions to both of our speakers. Followed by a trip to the pub for people who make it that far. Join us on Thursday 22nd May 2025 at 17:30 at Manchester Technology Centre (see special entrance directions below) for an exciting evening filled with networking opportunities, informative presentations and discussion about sustainable building practices. Jasmine Myra saxophone / Ben Haskins guitar / Jasper Green piano / Alice Roberts harp / Sam Quintana double bass / George Hall drums , plus string quartet Jasmine Myra is a saxophonist, composer and band leader, originally part of the bustling, creative, cross-genre music scene in Leeds but now based in London, where she has surrounded herself with some of the best young talent from the city. Her original instrumental music has a euphoric and uplifting sound, influenced by artists as diverse as Kenny Wheeler, Bonobo, Ólafur Arnalds and Moses Sumney. Myra’s sophomore album Rising builds on the success of her breakthrough album Horizons to deliver a major statement from one of UK jazz’s rising stars. Elevating, uplifting and beautifully arranged, it's produced by Matthew Halsall and mixed by Greg Freeman (Hania Rani, Matthew Halsall, Portico Quartet) . It is the sound of a composer and performer growing in stature and adding extra layers of confidence and poise to both her playing and composing. "Much like my first album, Rising, is a reflection of a period of my life. It is a continuation from Horizons , which was all about my experience during lockdown, and entailed overcoming my struggles with mental health. Following on from that experience, I set out to continue building my self-confidence. This album has an uplifting and spiritual sound, drawing influence from artists such as Makaya McCraven, Bonobo and Shabaka." - Jasmine Myra “It sounds amazing, a beautiful recording” – Gilles Peterson “A great new artist!” – Jamie Cullum “This album is a triumph of youth and hope and love” – Ban Ban Ton Ton ★★★★ “Myra proves herself a sensitive performer/composer” – MOJO ★★★★ “A new generation of spiritual jazz” – Jazzwise Information Source: manchester jazz festival | eventbrite
