The Introduction to Stand Up Paddle Boarding (SUP) class in Oroville at the Forebay Aquatic Center on March 9, 2024, will equip participants with fundamental skills and boost their confidence to enjoy this exciting water sport. Geared towards beginners, the session focuses on familiarizing participants with the board and equipment, mastering the proper stance and paddling techniques, practicing self-rescue maneuvers, and enhancing awareness of water safety protocols. The class includes both instructional sessions and supervised practice to ensure a comprehensive learning experience. Participants are advised to dress appropriately in insulating, quick-dry, or non-cotton clothing, such as polyester or neoprene, and to bring a spare change of clothes. Water shoes or sturdy sandals are recommended for water and shore travel, along with a water bottle, snacks, and sun protection gear. It is crucial to prepare for varying weather conditions, such as wind, rain, heat, and cold water. Note that personal watercraft must be approved by the staff, and the use of drugs and alcohol is strictly prohibited during the session. Ticket prices range from $15 to $45, and the class is subject to cancellation in case of inclement weather, with prompt notifications and full refunds issued accordingly.
