About this courseThis is a painting workshop with the goal of teaching people how to create paintings using either oil colors or acrylics. The total subject lessons consists of around 27 lessons that last 2.5 hours each. You can join at any time during the course. On each lesson the first part will be about theory and exercise and the second one about canvas time. Each participant will have the chance to work on canvas and start making paintings as artworks. All materials are provided by us. Each lesson has a subject. We do not follow a particular order, and every lesson is actually unique and many times personalized. This means that every time the attendess will have to do something new and different. This is a perfect opportunity to learn more about this Chinese art which combines self-defense with healthy physical training and a meditative mind work in one rich, centuries-old system. This workshop is also great to deepen and grow one's own practice: you'll have the opportunity to practice with a partner, improving your balance, coordination, and focus. Whether you're a beginner or have some experience, this workshop is mostly about the tuishou ( pushing hands ) part of taiji and is open to all levels. We'll train some partner routines, connect them to taiji qualities we aim for. Basic partner work in taiji relies on the basics of solo practice: we work on the specific principles and methods of our style regarding rooting, being centered, structuring the body and avoiding stiffness – thus also creating the building blocks of a more self-defense oriented practice. If you're new to taiji or our style, you will get to know and experience some of these principles and methods. Working with a partner gives immediate feedback about our own body's state of affairs , the forces in place and will enrich the solo practice. It is important that the training culture here be sane and safe: rather than seeing partner work as a way to show that one is stronger than the partner, we should try to train each other, so that the practice can be meaningful for everyone.
