About this courseThis is a painting workshop with the goal of teaching people how to create paintings using either oil colors or acrylics. The total subject lessons consists of around 27 lessons that last 2.5 hours each. You can join at any time during the course. On each lesson the first part will be about theory and exercise and the second one about canvas time. Each participant will have the chance to work on canvas and start making paintings as artworks. All materials are provided by us. Each lesson has a subject. We do not follow a particular order, and every lesson is actually unique and many times personalized. This means that every time the attendess will have to do something new and different. You do not have to paint on canvas and with the mentioned art materials, you can also choose to use any of your wish. Most of the observations and exercises work well with all art materials. It is suitable for beginners and or even professionals who want to rationalize the canvas painting process. It is being hosted by the visual artist Miltos Despoudis. How much does it cost?First lesson try-out costs 17€. You can do that only once. 4 x Lessons Packet(2.5 hours each) cost 120€. In order to participate you need to prepay 4 lessons. Best Before ist eine Einzelausstellung von Valentin Vert in den Vitrinen des Institut français Berlin – kreist um das Thema Konservierung: von Daten in energieintensiven Strukturen, von Kunstwerken unter strengen Auflagen sowie von Teilen des lebendigen Lebens – insbesondere tierischer und menschlicher Spezies –, die in den Trümmern des Kapitalismus überleben müssen, wo das Gift längst kein äußerer Feind mehr ist, sondern Teil unserer Umwelt geworden ist. Um diesen Herausforderungen Gestalt zu geben, hat der Künstler eine Serie von Skulpturen geschaffen, deren zylindrische, vertikale Formen von der Technik der Bohrkernentnahme inspiriert sind. Jede Skulptur enthält Quecksilber – ein chemisches Element, das Druck und Temperatur sichtbar machen kann –, zugleich ein Thermometer für Körper wie auch ein Indikator des Klimawandels. Als Speicherobjekte ebenso wie als Messinstrumente fungieren sie als hybride Werkzeuge an der Schnittstelle zwischen Labor und Museum. Mit ihrem versiegelten Erscheinungsbild und ihrer symbolischen Aufladung verkörpern sie moderne Reliquien, die sowohl vergrabene Daten als auch die prophetischen Zeichen einer möglichen Zukunft in sich tragen. Die Skulpturen treten in Dialog mit einem Korpus von Archivbildern, die der Künstler frei beschnitten und bearbeitet hat. So entfaltet sich eine Vielzahl ineinander verwobener Erzählungen: prometheische Geschichten der Quecksilbergewinnung, die Herstellung von Zinnober aus dem Metall und dessen malerische Verwendung von Pompeji bis Cézanne, industrielle Megalomanie bis hin zur Verwüstung der Bucht von Minamata. Tragische Fabeln von Katzen, die nach dem Verzehr kontaminierter Fische dem Wahnsinn verfallen, begegnen Erzählungen von Menschen, deren Gesichtszüge unter dem Einfluss des Gifts erstarren. Join in a group collage session, focusing on our creativity, emotions, and sharing moments of flow with each other. We will have plenty of time (and materials) to create multiple collages. The focus here is on just DOING, without thinking a lot about the images or shapes we are choosing and creating. I will show a couple different ways that you can approach the materials - ways of cutting, combining, picking. After creating our collages we will do short rounds of sharing about our choices. Sharing, talking and creating together can help us to understand the subtle messages from our subconscious and give us hints on next steps in life. It is often in this moment of talking out loud about our creation that we may realize more definitively why we gravitated towards certain ways of working or certain images. This is also always a great moment to realize how - beautifully -differently we think and create! Sometimes we will also notice life themes that are coming up for multiple people in the group. The June Festival returns this year to celebrate joyous and unforgettable moments. Many will remember this wonderful and important celebration of Brazilian culture in Berlin. Anyone who has been to Brazil in June will know that the people of Brazil celebrate throughout the month, and in some cities the festival is even bigger than Carnival. The June Festival (Festas Juninas) celebrates the harvest and honors Saints Anthony, John and Peter. The festival is held in typical Brazilian style, with rich traditional food, wine, music and a dramatic dance called the "Quadrilha" (a square dance). The festival is colorful. The party will be decorated with paper lanterns and flags. The men will dress up as farm boys and wear large straw hats. The women will wear red plaid clothes and decorate themselves with false teeth and freckles.

Yet the recent evolution of dance-friendly electronic music is very much a result of deep worldwide cultural changes which revolve around crucial aspects of the individual and shared identities as well as the (collective) emotional being. And then there is the command of the tech beat, with its repetitive and at times deliberately “shifting” effect on our minds. In fact, our modern Techno/Electro/House raves have probably evolved from those ancient rites in which music is intended to make you dance „for yourself“, for your spirit(s) and for your own beliefs. And, of course, for your own personal relationship with your whole body. In a ritualized setup, like in the traditional rites associated to ancient cults and cultures, dancing can be a healing tool when coupled with conscious cultural learning and mindful and/or flow-enhancing techniques. Here we propose a dance ritual in which the concepts of embodiment and flow would be applied to dances (and subcultures) associated to electronic music to awake and/or improve the individual mind-body connection as well as aiming at reaching relevant states of consciousness, eg. the so-called states of total flow and dance trance . Moreover, the dance rites would also include storytelling, items, and subjects with spiritual connotations. Our rites aim at improving the individual relationship with dance, movement, body awareness, spirituality (religion-independent) and are therefore equally suitable for those who have never felt comfortable when dancing and those who may well be experienced dancers but lack confidence or the ability to fully lose themselves in it to some degree. On top of that the rites are an opportunity to connect to others through dance in a more embodied and spiritual way than just clubs, parties, festivities, and many other types of dance gatherings. Blended in the sessions without a particular sequence, we will embodiment-aware dance the following dance/music styles: House (Classical, Acid, Italian, Afro, tech, deep), Techno (old-school, current, psy, ethereal, space), Minimal, some Ambient, Industrial, some Drum&Bass, some Ethno(Techno), Trance, diverse meditative and ritual(ish) electronic music. Level and audience: Level-independent, it is all about the ritual and the potential healing that we all need.
