Fistful of Colours: Moments of Chinese Cosmopolitanism | NUS Museum
Sep 16, 2021–Dec 31, 2025 (UTC+8)
Singapore
Fistful of Colours: Moments of Chinese Cosmopolitanism brings together artworks from the late Qing Dynasty to the present moment to explore the social history of art, with a particular emphasis on the situatedness of Chinese ink works amidst its political milieus. With reference to the concept of Chinese cosmopolitanism as proposed by scholar Pheng Cheah, the exhibition connects the artistic and scholarly advocation embodied by the artists presented, telling a story of the social life between artists and society through both modern and contemporary experiences of the overseas Chinese intellectual and mercantile communities, their pursuits of Chinese modernity, and their collective cultural commitments at the dawn of globalisation.
BETWEEN DECLARATIONS AND DREAMS: ART OF SOUTHEAST ASIA SINCE THE 19TH CENTURY | National Gallery Singapore
Jan 1, 2025–Dec 31, 2026 (UTC+8)
Singapore
Housed in the former Supreme Court building, the UOB Southeast Asia Gallery features over 300 artworks that trace shared artistic impulses across Southeast Asia. Beginning in the mid-19th century, the exhibition navigates Southeast Asia’s art history as an ongoing encounter with the new, as artists across the region negotiate the meaning of art and seek to reinvent vernacular expressions and aesthetics. Presented largely chronologically and interspersed with key turning points in artistic sensibilities, the exhibition also identifies how art is inextricably linked to the region’s turbulent social and political history.
The exhibition owes its title to Chairil Anwar, one of Indonesia’s most cherished poets. In his 1948 poem Krawang-Bekasi, Chairil Anwar lamented the massacre of villagers by Dutch colonial troops in West Java, giving vent to the desire for national independence at the time. This line can also be said of the experience of many artists in the region, caught between manifesto and dream, personal and political.
The curatorial narrative explores four themed locations in roughly chronological order, each of which critically examines common artistic impulses in the region during each period: Authority and Anxiety, Imagining the Nation and the Self, Performing the Nation, and Redefining Art.

The Studios: Scenes from the Climate Era | Esplanade - Theatres on the Bay, Singapore
Jul 18–Jul 20, 2025 (UTC+8)
Singapore
From an Australian playwright known for whip-smart works at the crossroads of science and art, comes a dazzling and provocative reflection on the biggest crisis in human history.
A couple discusses whether it’s ethical to have children. Scientists try to bioengineer a new coral reef. A Chinese team works to contain a glacier by building an Antarctic seawall. The last frog of its kind calls into the abyss for a mate.
Scenes from the Climate Erais a dizzying stream of conversations. Snapping between the absurd and the comic, the domestic and the global, the past, present and possible futures, the play distils the big ideas into intimate snapshots that bristle with urgency.
Working alongside director Ellison Tan, playwright David Finnigan adapts this work to reflect a warmth and sensibility unique to this region. This Singapore edition is a brand-new take on the original play, with scenes re-written or moved around, and brought to life by a stellar, multigenerational cast.
Scenes from the Climate Erais a stark reminder that time is no longer running out but merely passing, and that the consequences of generations past are the inevitable reality of those to come.

Nelson Mandela International Day Commemorative Engagement 2025 | The Foundry
Jul 19, 2025 (UTC+8)
Singapore
The Nelson Mandela International Day, observed annually on July 18th, is a global call to action that celebrates the legacy of his leadership in promoting justice, peace, and human rights. Across the world, the day encourages individuals, communities, and organizations to spend 67 minutes doing something positive for others. The 67 minutes represent the 67 years Nelson Mandela spent fighting for social justice, including his time as an activist, prisoner, and South Africa’s first Black president.
In partnership with Catalyst 2030 (a global movement of social innovators transforming systems and driving sustainable change to advance the UN Sustainable Development Goals worldwide) and the Singapore Red Cross Academy, we seek to commemorate and celebrate Mandela's dedications and work for humanity in eradicating poverty, upholding peace, reconciliation and cultural diversity, and to renew our commitment as youths to realising our 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Ultimately, GYLS seeks to engage young leaders in Singapore to address pressing social issues such as poverty alleviation, peacebuilding, and cultural diversity. Our goal is to foster a strong sense of civic responsibility and global citizenship among youths.

Singapore
Telok Blangah means “cooking pot bay” in Malay and refers to the cooking pot shape of the bay behind Keppel Harbour, where Palembang prince Sang Nila Utama threw his crown into the sea to quell a fierce storm while on his way to Singapore. These interesting legends and historical accounts are presented in My Telok Blangah Heritage Tour, which traces Singapore's 700-year history from the Kingdom of Singapore established by Sang Nila Utama in 1299 to the modern port city established by the British traders in the 20th century. From Marang Graves and Keramat Bukit Kasita to the Royal Johor Masoleum and Radin Mas Shrine, we will explore a plethora of tombs and memorials along Telok Blangah which shed light on our country's development.

What's 'improv'?
'Improv' is short for 'improvisational theatre and comedy'. As the name implies, improv is a special form of theatre wherein no scripts are involved! Rather, the performers have to create their stories on the fly, usually with the help of their audience. This creates a unique experience where no two shows are the same, and where both performers and audiences actively collaborate as part of the storytelling.
About The Improv Company
Founded in 2013,
The Improv Company
is Singapore’s first and biggest school of improvisational theatre and comedy. We welcome dozens of new students every month, imparting the positive values of “Yes, And” to every new cohort.
Over the years, we’ve also produced and performed in hundreds of improv shows. Our coaches have supported a handful of performing groups; some have gone on to grow as independent troupes, while others stayed as TIC’s House Teams. Internationally, we’ve represented Singapore at numerous festivals around the world. We also hosted the first Singapore Improv Festival in 2016, which now occurs biennially.
Ultimately, we hope to keep advancing improv as an applicable approach to daily life as well as a staple form of community theatre in Singapore!
