Discover the art of designing, printing, and binding zines at the Zine-Making Workshop in Ithaca. Delve into the world of DIY publishing as renowned local book artists, Adam Bryant and Laura Rowley, guide participants through the process. Adam Bryant, with an MFA from the University of Iowa Center for the Book, specializes in bookbinding, book history, letterpress printing, and papermaking. Laura Rowley, holding an MFA from the University of Alabama, runs Illuminated Press, a micro press dedicated to producing handmade books.
Participants will explore bookbinding techniques tailored for zines, learn to craft and illustrate their content, and master layout and design principles. In this workshop, students will inkjet print 15 copies of their zine project and gain the opportunity to showcase or sell their work at the Ithaca Book & Zine Fair. All necessary materials will be provided, but attendees are welcome to bring their preferred art supplies.
