Get ready for a fun-filled day of paddling, music, and good vibes at Paddle Palooza - the ultimate summer event for water sports enthusiasts Paddle Palooza Come join us for a day of fun in the sun at Harrison Maine's Crystal Lake Park ! The 5K race will start in the water at the beach and the course goes across the beautiful, clean, and scenic Crystal Lake. The kid's course starts immediately after the 5k course begins. All proceeds from this event will be used for scholarships for Harrison Summer Camp and for Camp Sunshine. Awards are hand-crafted locally. Silent auction of locally donated items will be held during the event. You won't want to miss this year's auction items. There are some really amazing donations from generous local businesses. This course is offered to those that have taken the Basic Stained Glass class and already have built a small leaded glass panel. Harrison Campus | Poet Family Outdoor Education Center This two-day course is offered to those that have taken the Basic Stained Glass class and already have built a small leaded glass panel OR have experience in cutting and scoring glass, as well as working with lead. In this class, we will spend two days learning more about the types of glass, where to purchase it and then time in the studio to build a larger rectangular panel or a circular panel. Choose from a few designs or bring your own. Materials are not included, contact Rhonda L. Deeg for your resource packet with designs and materials needed. Some glass can be purchased at cost from R. Deeg. All tools and equipment provided. $20-$40 extra will be for your additional materials. Deeg, born in Kokomo, IN only a few blocks from Kokomo Opalescent Glass, has devoted much of her career to teaching the construction trades and historic preservation in the vocational trades. Rhonda also has over 30 years’ experience in stained and art glass repair and restoration and is sole owner of RLD Glass Art. A large percentage of her business includes the restoration/repair and conservation of window and door panels for historic buildings, both in commercial and residential types, dating from the early 1800’s through the 20th century. She also sources vintage glass for replacement and uses her art background to include adaptive re-creations, traditional painting, mosaics with glass. Her new commissions are created using inspirations from the love she has for architectural details and abstract designs. She is a member of many local, state, and national organizations including Preservation Trades Network, Kentucky Heritage Council, Indiana Landmarks, Stained Glass Association of America, American Glass Guild and the Society of American Mosaic Artists. Rhonda has appeared in many publications, written numerous articles for trade related magazines and spoken at many workshops/seminars, promoting the traditional trades and glass art. This class is ideal for those completely new to the craft, those who haven’t knitted in many years and need a full refresher or people that have tried and don't feel confident reading patterns or picking out projects/yarn.Topics include yarn and fibers, knitting needles and tools, reading patterns and more! Harrison Campus | Ken Kerswill Theatre Lab This class meets on Thursdays: May 1, 8, 15, 22 & 29, 2025 from 6:30-7:30 PM . This class will teach you how to work with your dog around distractions in Come, Stay, and Walking. You'll also work as a team on Greetings, Heel in fast and slow, and Leave it. Plus, you'll get to introduce your dogs to basic manners, and much much more. Guidelines: Two handlers are permitted with each dog Must have: Proof of shot records 4 or 6-foot leash Treats Not allowed: Aggressive dogs are not allowed Prong collars, choke chains, and retractable leashes For safety purposes, children under 5 years of age are not allowed to attend class. Instructor: Michele Henderson Michele has been training dogs for over 15 years and has owned dogs of many different shapes and sizes herself. Michele holds titles in many dog sports such as canine freestyle and dog dancing. She holds a 4-time world championship title in dog dancing. About Our Guest Artist Nicolas Duchamp is an internationally acclaimed performer and educator, specializing in the Paris Conservatory French flute tradition. He served for many years as principal flutist for the National Opera Comique in Paris and toured extensively in his native France as well as Europe, Japan and North America. He has taught at the Ecole Normale Supérieure in Paris, led master classes worldwide, and served as a professor at French conservatories for over 20 years. In 2009, he was commissioned to honor Philippe Gaubert’s legacy with a worldwide tour, including a historic performance on Gaubert’s Louis Lot flute for American Public Radio’s “ Performance Today” .
