The Crafty Hag, an experienced teacher, will guide participants step by step through the process of carving stamps and printing on cotton kitchen towels. This hands-on workshop, recommended for adults but also open to teens, will provide an introduction to linocut carving tools. No need to worry about drawing skills, as simple repeat designs are perfect for this session. Abstract, geometric patterns, monograms, or any symbol that resonates with you can be transformed into a 4 x 5 inch (or smaller) rubber stamp. If you prefer, you can combine several small stamps instead of creating one large one. All materials, including carving tools, will be provided, and each participant will have two towels to print on and take home. To ensure a comfortable experience, it is advised to wear clothes that can tolerate permanent fabric ink. Feel free to bring additional cotton items, such as t-shirts, for printing. The group will gather at the lower River Trail Parking Lot (off of 8th street) at 5 PM. The ride will begin promptly at 5:10 PM, so arrive a few minutes early to sign the ride waiver. Don't worry about keeping up - this is a relaxed-paced ride, ensuring no one gets left behind. Whether you prefer acoustic or electric bikes, bring the one that brings a smile to your face. The ride will continue with laps until everyone is satisfied. If you enjoy riding into the night, make sure to have your lights charged and ready. This exciting group ride takes place on two of the Triangle's original and most renowned mountain bike trails, 286 and Lake Crabtree. Depending on the size of the group, we may split into 2 or 3 groups to accommodate varying skill levels. The advanced group will tackle the challenging 286 and Lake Crabtree trails, while the intermediate and beginner riders can choose between the two, based on their preferences. The ride will commence with the fast group, averaging 8-10 mph over a distance of 15 miles, followed by the more leisurely-paced group, averaging 4-6 mph for 6-8 miles.
