David Lynch's MULHOLLAND DRIVE (2001)– Live Performance by Rebekah Del Rio! | Philosophical Research Society
Jun 14, 2025 (UTC-7)ENDED
City of Los Angeles
A love story in the city of dreams . . .
Perhaps no other LA film is so steeped in the mythos and mystery of our complex city and its spectres of burning hopes and broken dreams as
David Lynch
's
MULHOLLAND DRIVE
(2001). As part of
YesterdayLA,
the Philosophical Research Society’s monthlong exploration of Los Angeles history, 7th House Screenings is proud to present the late master's
enigmatic dream logic masterpiece,
one of the most monumental works of 21st Century cinema and one of the greatest Los Angeles films ever made.
This special screening will be
accompanied by an appearance and performance by the film's Club Silencio "Llorando" chanteuse, Rebekah Del Rio
!
Blonde Betty Elms (Naomi Watts) has only just arrived in Hollywood to become a movie star when she meets an enigmatic brunette with amnesia (Laura Harring). Meanwhile, as the two set off to solve the second woman’s identity, filmmaker Adam Kesher (Justin Theroux) runs into ominous trouble while casting his latest project. Of its plot, The New York Times's A.O. Scott wrote, "Its tangled story will be experienced by some as an offense against narrative order, but the film is an intoxicating liberation from sense, with moments of feeling all the more powerful for seeming to emerge from the murky night world of the unconscious."
Lynch’s seductive and scary vision of Los Angeles’s dream factory is one of the true masterpieces of the new millennium, a tale of love, jealousy, and revenge like no other. Do not miss your chance to see this shadowy, "poisonous valentine to Hollywood" in one of the city's oldest centers for esoteric mysteries – replete with an unforgettable performance by
Rebekah Del Rio
!
Dir. David Lynch, 2001, 146 mins, United States, English, Rated R, Digital.
TICKETS: $12 (In Person Event Only)
Please email events@prs.org or phone 323-663-2167 with any questions.
This evening's guest, Rebekah Del Rio

Writers Bloc Presents Molly Jong-Fast in Conversation With Lisa Kudrow | The Ebell of Los Angeles - Dining Room
Jun 9, 2025 (UTC-7)ENDED
City of Los Angeles
HEALTH & SAFETY: WE ASK THAT YOU PLEASE WEAR A FACE MASK WHILE INDOORS FOR OUR EVENTS. THANK YOU.
While it would be so interesting and fun to be the child of the wildly famous and groundbreaking author and literary lion, Erica Jong, it presented some painfully difficult challenges to Molly Jong-Fast, Erica's daughter.
Jong-Fast has her family's great creative DNA, being a brilliant writer herself, who is now focusing on political writing and podcasting. But her new book,
How to Lose Your Mother,
is deeply and utterly personal. It is impossible to put down. Molly Jong-Fast reveals the struggle with her internationally renowned mother's dementia, while dealing with her own husband's cancer diagnosis at the same time.
How can this be funny and unique? Trust us. Jong-Fast knows how to tell a tough story with searing honesty and stunning humor , weaving in the complications and struggles of being Erica Jong's daughter. The ravages of memory loss and ageing are cruel facts of life. But in Molly Jong-Fast's hands, they're something new altogether.
In conversation with comedy queen Lisa Kudrow. You know the award-winning Lisa Kudrow from her ten-year run as Phoebe Buffay on the seminal sitcom
Friends
, for which she won Emmys and a Screen Actors Guild Award. She has appeared on countless major comedies, including
Mad About You
;
Grace & Frankie;
and
The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt
. She is also part of the team behind the critically acclaimed series,
Web Therapy
, as well as
The Comeback
, among so many other shows.
