How Speed Dating Works in Bristol When you arrive at Treetop Mini Golf you will be greeted by our friendly professional hosts. Once everyone has arrived and registered we will briefly explain the format of the evening. The ladies will then be asked to make their way to their allocated table. Once the ladies are seated the gentlemen will be asked to proceed to their first date. You will have 4 minutes to chat to each date, once the 4 minutes is over we will ring a bell to indicate the time is up and for the gentlemen to move to their next date. Four minutes is long enough to see if you click with the person you are talking to and whether you would like to see them again and also short enough if you don't. At the end of each date you have a brief few moments to make some notes on the person you have just dated. This is something to help jog your memory for the post event matching process the next day. Half way through the event you will have an interval break so you can nip to the toilet or top up your drink at the Amazon themed bar! After the Speed Dating has taken place, feel free to head to the golf course and play a round or two of mini golf with some of your love interests and friends made from the evening for FREE! This is a great way to mingle with fellow daters and continue your evening! Don't forget to take your dating card home with you to assist you in entering in your ticks and potential matches. Post Event No later than midday the following day our matching system will be unlocked for you to enter your ticks from the previous evening. You have all day to tick as many people as you like from the night before. We guarantee you will find someone you will want to see again, otherwise we will give you your next Speed Dating event for free! Baltic Cinema: Neptune Frost Thu 11 September | 18:30 £6 Full price / £4 Students, under 18s, unwaged and 65+ Anisia Uzeyman & Saul Williams Rwanda / USA 105’ (cert. 15)English, French, Swahili, Kinyarwanda, Kirundi with English subtitles | Digital video Screened here as a response to Harold Offeh’s exhibition Mothership 2.0 , Anisia Uzeyman and Saul Williams’ mind-bendingly inventive film defies easy classification. Part-musical, part-sci fi, part-political polemic, Neptune Frost is an electrifying experience which fuses the lo-fi and the high-camp, the grungily analogue and the open-sourced digital. A vast Rwandan coltan mine and Burundian village-turned-techno-scrapheap hacker encampment set the scene for this non-conforming musical adventure. An electrifying connection between intersex runaway Neptune (Elvis Ngabo and Cheryl Isheja) and coltan miner Matalusa (Kaya Free) create a virtual offspring with the potential to ignite a revolution. The soundtrack, composed by Williams, is our emotional and spiritual guide through overlapping analogue and digital universes, embracing his defiantly experimental, activist and intersectional position. Blending afro-futuristic and glitch aesthetics, the creative team’s dynamic vision includes art direction from polymath Cedric Mizero (fashion designer, artist, photographer) and producer backing from Lin-Manuel Miranda, the creator of Hamilton and In the Heights. Made with an entirely Rwandan and Burundian cast and crew, Neptune Frost presents an intoxicatingly original way to explore economic inequality specific to this mining region of Africa, and the role of technology as both oppressor and liberator. Playing for Wallsend Ladies, Whitley Bay Ladies and North Shields Ladies, Christine won ten England caps in the 1970s and 1980s. Aran Embleton, the first millennial Geordie Lioness, gained four England caps and played for Blyth Spartans, Sunderland Ladies and Doncaster Belles in her illustrious career. A fugitive is washed up on a seemingly deserted rocky island. Out of nowhere, a group of tourists arrive, clad in 1920s high-society clothing, and though he fears being discovered, the fugitive begins to fall in love with one of them, a woman called Faustine (Anna Karina). She doesn’t seem to notice him — and it gradually becomes clear that something mysterious and powerful is keeping them apart. Arts Painting
Artist Talk: Laura Lancaster and Rachel Lancaster Friday 26 September 2025 | 18:00 £5.00 / £3.50 concessions (student/unwaged) Join artists Laura Lancaster and Rachel Lancaster for an in-conversation about their work with National Portrait Gallery Curator Amy Emmerson Martin. Their Baltic exhibition Remember, Somewhere is the first major institutional showing of the two Hartlepool-born artists’ work displayed together. For this talk, they will be joined by National Portrait Gallery’s Contemporary Curator Amy Emmerson Martin to explore the distinct yet interconnected styles of both artists. Laura’s paintings are inspired by found photographs, slides and films of strangers, sourced from online auction sites, flea markets, and junk shops. Through gestural, expressive paint application, she transforms these discarded memories into works that balance abstraction and figuration. Rachel, in contrast, paints fragments of cinematic imagery, often cropped from stills of 1980s and 1990s films. Focusing on intimate details, such as the nape of a neck or an arm resting on a cardigan, she creates a heightened sense of intimacy through the interplay of light, fabric, skin, hair, and pattern. Remember, Somewhere is a celebration of the everyday and the overlooked, evoking personal memory and collective consciousness, whilst also exploring each artist’s unique approach to their source material and painterly style.
