In York City Centre, our hotel is within a 10-minute walk of major attractions like Jorvik Viking Centre and York Barbican event centre. York Minster Cathedral and dozens of shops, eateries, and bars are within one mile. The University of York is just over a mile away. Enjoy free breakfast and our 24-hour fitness centre.

"The location is great, and a morning stroll through the town was lovely. The only downside was that the hotel's air conditioning wasn't working. I contacted the front desk three times, but to no avail. The first time, the lady at the front desk suggested turning it on and off multiple times to activate it. The second time, she came to the room to demonstrate, but when that didn't work, she said she'd go to the server room to adjust the AC settings, which also yielded no results. The third time, when I contacted a different staff member at the front desk, I was asked, 'Has someone already tried to fix it?' Then they brought a fan, repeatedly saying 'I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm so sorry.' They explained that the AC cooling system couldn't be activated because the weather in York was cool. It was just 'I'm sorry' after that. It was the first time I'd heard such a reason for an AC not working. Nevertheless, the town of York is still very beautiful."

"If you are Chinese, I strongly suggest thinking twice before staying here. I was first assigned a room in the side building that reeked of mould and had a broken bathroom sink. After complaining, I was moved to an accessible room on the same floor, despite having no accessibility needs — no bathtub, an absurdly tiny sink, and a mirror positioned for wheelchair users. If this was considered an appropriate replacement, perhaps they should have provided a wheelchair too. What made the room allocation even more questionable was that the floor, with around 11–12 rooms, appeared largely empty. And it certainly wasn’t because of good soundproofing — I could clearly hear guests talking in other rooms. So why was I first given a mouldy, broken room, and then an entirely unsuitable accessible room when the floor did not even appear full? Separately, there was a white female receptionist whose behaviour made the experience even worse: dramatic eye-rolling, a condescending attitude, followed by the most artificial “professional” smile imaginable. I cannot prove the motivation behind the room allocation, but as a Chinese guest, the entire experience left me feeling singled out and discriminated against. A terrible room can be an accident. Repeatedly questionable treatment is harder to explain away."

"I am very disappointed with my room assignment. Before my arrival, I specifically requested rooms near the elevator and connecting rooms (or at least rooms close to each other) because I am traveling with my young children. Unfortunately, none of my requests were accommodated. Instead, I was assigned two separate rooms on different floors (2nd and 6th floors). To make matters worse, each floor requires a separate key card to access, making it extremely inconvenient and nearly impossible for my family to move between rooms. Additionally, one of the rooms is located at the very end of the hallway, far from the elevator, despite my request for a room nearby. These arrangements are the exact opposite of what I requested and create significant difficulties when traveling with children. I made these requests in advance because they are important for my family’s safety and convenience, yet they appear to have been completely overlooked."

"Caught in a weekend + peak season, the room rate was quite expensive. The room itself wasn't very big, but we were able to check in early. With the sofa bed pulled out, there was barely any space left after opening our luggage. The windows were sealed, and the air conditioning worked decently. Breakfast was a typical English breakfast, and it was included by default with our stay. There were no vegetables or fruits, but it was filling enough. The hotel is within walking distance of the train station. Recommended for a short stay."

"Positives: well priced, beautiful location, breakfast included. Negatives: the older man on reception would not acknowledge me at check in, despite it being booked and paid for by myself (a female), he insisted on only discussing check in with my partner (male). Sexism is not what I was expecting at a country hotel. Second issue was the floorboards were INCREDIBLY squeaky. I was woken at 5am by the room above me walking around and I’m aware when I walked around the floor in my room was just as squeaky. It was annoying and disruptive. The hotel was pretty and well kept outside but it is not what is shown in the first image on Trip. Inside the room was a little dated and could’ve been cleaner."

"Hotel Indigo in York has a great location near to the city wall. It’s a very easy city to walk and it was nice to pop back to drop of shopping and have a rest during the day. The room was very quiet, the bed was super comfy and the shower had excellent pressure. Breakfast had lots of choice and was yummy. I really enjoyed my stay as the staff were friendly and helpful. Will stay here again when I visit York next!!"

Now part of the National Trust. All profits donated to the charity. Yorks Leading Country House Hotel Middlethorpe Hall- just outside York is a William-and-Mary country house- built in 1699 of mellow red bricks with limestone dressing. The Hall has been elegantly decorated in the manner of the 18thC and furnished with antiques and fine paintings- so that its look and ambiance is that of a well-kept- well-furnished private manor house rather than a 29-bedroomed hotel. Middlethorpe Hall is renowned for its imaginative cuisine -the only restaurant in York awarded 3 rosettes by the AA- and its oak-paneled dining room which overlooks the manicured gardens. The 20 acres of manicured gardens and parkland which surround Middlethorpe Hall include a fragrant rose garden- intriguing walled garden and romantic meadow which leads to a lake surrounded by beautiful specimen trees. Middlethorpe Hall also boasts a Spa built behind the handsome facade of two Listed Edwardian cottages. This offers guests a wide range of facilities from Clarins- Molton Brown -exclusive in Yorkshire and Espa treatments with trained therapists to a splendid indoor swimming pool Jacuzzi and sauna.

"Everything about the whole experience was amazing from start to finish. Nothing was too much trouble at all. The staff were all very friendly and could not have obliged any better that. We went out on the Saturday evening into York and the hotel booked us a taxi. Upon return we had a night cap to finish off a beautiful day. The General Manager was interested to hear how the day and evening had been and stayed with us for about 15 minutes. The dinner we had on the Friday night and the breakfast on the Saturday and Sunday were lovely. We will definitely return at a later date.."

"Hotel location central for visiting Harrogate tourist areas. Premier twin was adequate. Comfy beds had lovely cotton linen. Efficient and not too noisy aircon. Shower over bath was a surprise. Toiletries provided were lovely. Very small mugs and glasses. The receptionist was not very forthcoming in what she was doing. Very surprised to have to fill out all my details again and my friend in another another room had to provide her credit card for a room I'd paid for. There was confusion about payment and then our card did not unlock the door of the room we had been given. We were put in a quiet zone of the hotel, which was fine but we hadn't asked for. We did not eat or drink in the hotel. Efficient and reasonable parking. Lifts very busy in the morning."

we went last year to this hotel and found it excellent but this time it did not feel as good. Firstly the bedroom very small and the window did not stay open when we told the maid she must have known about it because she came and propped it open with 2 rolls of paper towels, also there were no hand towels in our room the whole stay only 2 bath towels. last year there seemed better selection the breakfast seemed hit and miss first day no hash brown and only one flavour of yogurt, second day there was hash brown but no sausages. there were never ever any black pudding or fried bread which i would have expected for a full english.

Overall, I wouldn't really recommend it. The location is okay, just outside the city walls. However, all the rooms are in the attic, requiring two flights of very narrow stairs, making it impossible to bring up even a slightly larger suitcase. The floors are uneven, and in some areas, it feels like they could easily collapse; even with a carpet, they still creak when you walk on them. What's even more frustrating is that the attic is already stuffy, and a constant instant noodle smell drifts up from the downstairs restaurant. On the night we checked in, we found one of the air conditioners wasn't working, but the front desk said the maintenance staff had already left for the day and could only provide us with a small electric fan.

The location by the river is very quiet. All the city's attractions are within walking distance. Although the room is small, it has a small pantry where you can cook simple meals, which is a great plus! The lobby has a 24-hour coffee machine with freshly ground coffee, and croissants are available for breakfast in the morning. Starting the day with a cup of rich coffee and a croissant before heading out for your day's activities is indeed an excellent choice!

We were very disappointed with the check-in experience. The hotel assigned us rooms in a wing where the air conditioning was not working. It appeared that the staff were already aware of the problem, as my friends and I seemed to be the only guests staying in that entire wing. Unfortunately, this happened during a heatwave, making the rooms unbearably hot and very uncomfortable. I had to walk back to reception to request a room change. The staff initially offered to bring us a fan and said the hotel was fully booked, but that was not an acceptable solution in such extreme temperatures. After I insisted, my friends and I were finally moved to rooms with working air conditioning. What made the situation even more confusing was that guests who checked in after us were assigned rooms on other floors with functioning air conditioning. That left us wondering why we had been placed in rooms with a known problem in the first place. Guests should never be checked into rooms with a major maintenance issue like this, especially during a heatwave. While we appreciated that the hotel eventually moved us, the whole experience left us with serious doubts about how room allocations were handled —- is it because i booked via Trip.com ?

Located within a golf course, the hotel boasts a tranquil, peaceful, and comfortable environment with beautiful scenery. However, it's quite far from the city center, about a 30-minute drive from York's Old Town. If you're not traveling by car, it's not the best choice for accommodation. But if you have a car, it's an excellent option as parking is free. The hotel has two restaurants with good food, but they are very expensive and the portions are small – typical fine dining. If you don't want to spend too much on food, it's best to eat in the city before entering the hotel.

We’ve stayed at Delta Hotels York multiple times now, and it continues to be a fantastic choice every single visit. This was our 6th stay, and once again, it was a solid 10/10 experience. The hotel is always spotless—super clean and tidy throughout—which makes a big difference the moment you walk in. The room service is top-notch, and everything feels well thought out and well maintained. We especially appreciated the welcoming amenities in the room, including a great selection of coffee and the Ninja coffee pod machine, which was a lovely touch. The rooms and bathrooms are impressively spacious, with plenty of room to relax comfortably. It never feels cramped, which really adds to the overall experience. The staff are consistently friendly, polite, and genuinely helpful, making every stay smooth and enjoyable. Another big plus for us is the leisure facilities—the jacuzzi and pool are a great bonus and perfect for unwinding. On top of that, the on-site parking is safe, convenient, and reasonably priced, which is one of the main reasons we keep choosing this hotel when visiting York. Overall, a reliable and welcoming place that never disappoints. We’ll definitely be back again.
