"Had a fantastic stay! We booked the 'sky-light room,' which was very quiet, allowing us to sleep soundly until morning. "I contacted the owner a day in advance and got detailed information about the mountain entry procedures. The advice the owner gave was super practical. I booked a vehicle online for entry and exit, which was very convenient. The guesthouse's location was easy to find; navigation led straight there, and the owner even had an EV charging station, which was handy. Since we had elderly people and children with us, the owner also arranged a commercial van for pickup and drop-off, which was truly excellent service. For a guesthouse, the facilities were already quite good, especially the cleanliness, and the breakfast was very generous. Both the guesthouse restaurant and the vegetarian hotpot outside were excellent. In the afternoon, it rained, so stringing beads and copying scriptures on the third floor was also a great option. Next time I visit Wutai Mountain, I'll definitely choose this guesthouse again."

"This time I came to Datong to stay at this homestay and the experience was full! The homestay is newly renovated, the rooms are very clean and tidy, and all kinds of facilities are very new and comfortable. The view of the yard is beautiful, and it is especially pleasant to sit in your leisure time. What impressed me the most was the boss family, who treated people sincerely and enthusiastically, and made the journey particularly warm. "The butler was incredibly welcoming and responded to messages in the group chat very quickly. They picked us up at the city gate in a sightseeing cart and dropped us off when we left – it was like a private shuttle service for each guest. We received so many thoughtful gifts, including a beautiful fridge magnet, local specialty snacks, and unique vinegar. The welcome drinks and cake also had a distinct local flavor, showing how much care was put into everything. The hotel facilities are new and modern, and it was very quiet at night, ensuring a great night's sleep."

The owner, Brother Wang, was incredibly enthusiastic, providing exceptional service. He contacted us a day in advance to arrange pick-up and shared travel tips. What really stood out was when we decided to check out early and head to our next destination without prior notice; Brother Wang still got up early to drive us to the high-speed rail station. Considering it would have been hard to hail a taxi that early and how chilly Pingyao was in the morning, Brother Wang made us feel as warm as spring! He even upgraded our room for free. The inn's location is excellent, right on Yamen Street, very close to the City Tower, yet it's very quiet at night. The bedding was soft and comfortable, giving us the best sleep of our trip! PS: Staying here also includes free trials of Jin merchant traditional clothing for some beautiful photos!

The room was great, and the underfloor heating kept it very warm. The courtyard (siheyuan) is absolutely beautiful. The underground parking was also very convenient. The service was excellent. I didn't use my car for two days, so leaving wasn't the smoothest. I had to rush to Yungang Grottoes and left before 7 AM, getting a bit delayed at the entrance. The parking fee was 100 RMB (even though there was a free parking voucher, it didn't link successfully), but the owner paid it for me. This is a very responsible establishment, and both the owner and the housekeeper are wonderful. The location is super convenient, and the breakfast is incredibly delicious. Many thanks!

The recommended local dishes were excellent value for money, and they even kindly reminded us about discount offers.
The directions to attractions were very clear, and the tour guide they arranged was incredibly professional. Learning about the ancient city's history made the trip truly worthwhile!
The courtyard was very clean, and you could tell every plant was carefully tended to. The room furnishings were also very tasteful, and the facilities were complete.

SteveCHouLoved it!! Although we were only here 2 nights, this was one of our 2 favorite stays of our 2 weeks in China. We’re loved it here. This hotel was just what I was hoping for. Traditional courtyard hotel. It’s beautiful! We felt like we were in a movie. It was so relaxing. Both mornings I just relaxed on the swing in the courtyard and enjoyed the peace and the environment. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Helen was very nice and helped us with any questions we had. The room was clean and beautiful. I will say you need to be prepared for a very firm bed - but that’s the style and party of the experience, This was one of our favorite parts of our trip. If we’re fortunate enough to have the chance to come back, I will definitely stay here again. I highly recommend.

This time to Datong, choosing to stay at Shengyajuju is really the wisest decision! From booking to leaving the store, the whole experience is impeccable.
Location: The location of the homestay is quiet, it is very convenient to go to the core attractions such as the ancient city wall, Huayan Temple, Kowloon Wall and other attractions, and it is within walking distance. The surrounding life is convenient, but it will not be too noisy, and the rest is very quiet at night.
Environmental facilities: I was deeply attracted as soon as I entered the door! The decoration is very distinctive, perfectly integrating classical Chinese aesthetics and modern comfort. The room was spotless, the bedding was soft and comfortable, and I lay on it to remove the fatigue of the journey. The facilities are full marks, high-definition projection, first-class quality toiletries, details can feel the owner's intentions everywhere.
Warm service: The hospitality of the boss and staff makes people feel at home. The room introduced the play guide and food map, helping to book tickets, and saving a lot of worry.
Featured experience: I have to mention the breakfast near his home! The authentic Shanxi characteristics are clean and delicious, and they are full of energy for a day of play.
In short, Shengyaju is not only a place to stay, but also a good memory during the trip. Next time I come to Datong, I will definitely stay again and recommend it to all my friends without hesitation!

Guest UserMy experience staying at this hotel as below.
1. They provide pickup and drop off from the train station. The day before the Inn contacted me to make arrangement for the pickup. Then they arranged to drive me back to station on the day I leave. Service was efficient and prompt. Much appreciated.
2. I was able to use the washing machine to wash come clothes which was much needed. Comb and toiletries were provided. So grateful for these little necessities as I left mine at the previous hotel.
3. The boss upgraded me to a bigger and better room because it was the low season. The kang bed was so comfortable and firm. I had the best sleep so far at this Inn. I'm so happy.
4. The Inn is inside the old city and practically next to one of the city gates. Very convenient for sightseeing old Pingyao city.
5. Everyone very friendly and helpful. Boss also gave me a bottle of vinegar. Wish I could take it back to UK with me.
6. The price of this Inn is also very reasonable and affordable.
7. Pingyao is a beautiful, ancient old city. Worth coming.

This guesthouse boasts a wonderfully elegant ambiance and a truly superb location. Stepping out, you're right on Gulou East Street, perfect for exploring, and Southeast Yi is just a few minutes' walk away. Despite its bustling street location, the guesthouse's courtyard offers surprising tranquility. We slept soundly through the night and woke up naturally, completely undisturbed.
The owner and the housekeeper were incredibly thoughtful and attentive. They were always ready to answer any questions, from before our arrival until our departure, and their responses were always very detailed. Every day, the housekeeper would kindly ask us what time we'd like breakfast the next morning, and at the agreed time, she'd even come to our room door to let us know it was ready.
I absolutely adored it!!! If I ever visit again, I would definitely choose Yishui Street.

Very good experience. The owners are friendly and provide pick up at the gate entrance. Pretty courtyard and the owners shared a lot of information on where to eat / shop at. Would definitely recommend this guesthouse to those wanting to visit Pingyao.

Guest UserThis charming, old-fashioned courtyard is a peaceful oasis right in the heart of the old city, yet still very close to the bustling pedestrian street. The owner is incredibly genuine and offers fantastic service. They even arranged car transfers to and from the high-speed train station, which was a huge plus. It was a wonderful stay! I'll definitely choose to stay here again next time I visit and will recommend it to my friends.
