"The environment was pleasant and beautiful, and the staff were all very friendly. The cleanliness was also pretty good. However, it's an old house, so the soundproofing is practically zero. I didn't hear other guests, but I was woken up several times by dogs outside. It's definitely better to use the earplugs provided by the staff! 😆"

"Not only have I vouched that it has been the best B&B in hualien, so did my driver who picked us up.
Sea has been around for 8 years, and the standard of cleanliness just seems like a brand new accoms. Had daily interaction with the front desk lady who happens to own the b&b. She was lovely, even persistent that we have breakfast everyday. So pleasant.
We were in touched the day after i booked it when my trip has not start. giving us recommendations, booking trips and drivers for us, providing free bicycles and umbrella. it was just the best and most convenient place to reside. love it. they have everything and are always available. (maybe not midnighti of course).

"The location is fantastic, right in the heart of Liuhe Night Market, and just a few minutes' walk from Formosa Boulevard Station. The room was super clean, and despite its small size, it had a sofa, a TV, and essential amenities like a hairdryer. Just remember to bring your own toothbrush as they don't provide one. It was a great stay, and I'll definitely choose this place again when I'm back in Kaohsiung."

"The design is fantastic and the location is superb. The only drawbacks are that you have to wait for the hot water tank to refill after using the bathtub, otherwise there won't be enough hot water for a shower, and the soundproofing isn't great. However, overall it offers excellent value for money."

GGuest UserThis is a really cosy place. I really love my room. Clean and modern interior. The only downside might be the location. It's close to the train station. But there isn't much nearby for food. Probably best to rent a scooter to explore Taitung anyway to make your stay more convenient. They are plenty of scooter shops near the train station too.

NNguyen Do Nha UyenAfter coming back from Taiwan, I suddenly realized I hadn’t posted any photos or written a review about the adorable wooden cabin our family stayed in at Jiufen. Everyone in my family loved this place so much that I had to jot everything down now that I finally have some free time.
Most people I know usually stay in Taipei longer and just make a day trip to Jiufen without spending the night. As for me—I’ve lived in Hong Kong for quite a while, so compared to Hong Kong, Taipei didn’t leave much of an impression on me in terms of sights or food. The only thing that truly made me want to visit Taiwan was Jiufen — a sparkling little gem between the mountains and the sea 🏮🌿🌊
Jiufen feels like a dreamy fairytale village with its winding narrow alleys, steep stone stairways, and the warm glow of red lanterns everywhere. Walking around felt like stepping into another world, almost like a scene from a manga — especially for anyone who’s watched Spirited Away.

⭐🛖 Review of the wooden cabin called Twilight Forest in Jiufen
Just a 5-minute walk from the Old town, this wooden cabin brings together the warm glow of wood and the peaceful feeling of retreating into nature. It has a unique A-frame design, and at night, when the lights turn on, the whole place becomes incredibly cozy — the golden light shining through the windows and the plants around it create a “hideaway from the world” kind of vibe.
Inside, the space is open, airy, and tastefully decorated in a rustic style. There’s a small terrace with a swing chair hanging straight from the ceiling — sitting there at night, listening to insects and the wind rustling through the leaves, feels genuinely healing 🙃.
🛁🌿 Highlight: The glass-walled bathroom in the garden
This is the standout feature of the cabin. The bathtub is large and comfortable, placed right next to a 180° glass wall looking directly into a lush green garden. Natural daylight pours in, making your daytime bath feel like an outdoor spa surrounded by plants. (There’s also a roller blind if you need privacy)
Jiufen is a tiny village perched on a mountain, and it doesn’t have many hotels that offer spacious, comfortable accommodations. That’s why I was so happy to find this wooden cabin. Our family had the most wonderful two-night stay here.
If I ever return to Taipei, I would definitely book this place again ❤️

OOKTCGOWe had 3 nights at Harmony in a room with no window, but it did not feel claustrophobic at all. We did have trouble finding it due google maps playing up and we ended up at the sister hotel further up the hill. Thankfully, one of the owners ran up the hill and met us to take us to the correct one
Entry to the hotel is a pain when it pouring down with rain while trying to input your details for the QR code. But this was clearly detail in the listing descritption and previous reviews had mentioned this.
A huge help would be to to put a larger sign identifying the hotels location. See photo with circle around the name…. Very easy to miss.
During the stay, it was very quiet and extremely clean in possible the best location to old street. Literally 30 seconds away. Walk a little bit further and theres a 7-11 and family mart across the street.
The wifi is w10/10 so very good for digital nomads. I highly recommend harmony and would definitely stay again.

TTobias TDuring my recent trip to Hualien, I had the unique opportunity to stay at the Peace Prison Cafe Inn Hostel, and it truly exceeded my expectations. As soon as I arrived, the prison theme instantly caught my attention. The rooms were designed to resemble prison cells, which added an intriguing and immersive element to my stay.
One thing that stood out to me was the absence of a traditional reception desk. Instead, to gain entry, all guests need to do is call the contact number provided, which adds a touch of mystery to the experience. The lady working there was exceptionally helpful and patient, even taking the time to explain how to use the facilities in Chinese. Her assistance made my stay all the more enjoyable.
As a solo traveler, I couldn't help but appreciate the eerie vibes that the place exudes, especially since I'm a fan of horror. Every night, I found myself immersed in an atmosphere that perfectly catered to my taste. It's not often that you come across a hostel that provides such a unique and thrilling ambiance.
Cleanliness is always a priority for me, and I was pleased to find that Peace Prison Cafe Inn Hostel did not disappoint in this aspect. The rooms were well-maintained, ensuring a comfortable and pleasant stay. The convenient location of the hostel was also a major plus, making it easy for me to explore and enjoy everything that Hualien has to offer.

SSightsee BugWhen we were looking for accommodation in Kinmen, I wasn't sure I wanted to book a B&B. Looking at the accommodation available in Kinmen, it seems the majority are B&B and homestays. After having stayed at Zhu Shan Gandee, we finally realised that a good number of the traditional buildings in many of the ”villages” have been converted into accommodation. This one was in the Zhu Shan village where there are other B&Bs. There are no shops or restaurants in this village but downtown Jincheng is only a short drive away. This village is really nice and quiet (as would others I am guessing) and Zhu Shan Park is just a short stroll behind the house from which a top view of the village can be seen. Strolling around the village, this house stands out as more modern and attractive and the nicest in presentation (in my humble opinion). Inside, the common areas are excellent, well presented and homely. There are 2 courtyards to relax in and their atmospheres are so welcoming. We were out most of the time so didn't really spend too much time indoors enjoying what was on offer. Our room was a tad small but we love having a bidet to use. The bed was comfortable. A simple bread and jam breakfast is available if you choose to have it. There is plenty of ”help yourself” bottled and packet drinks in the fridge and in boxes on the floor if you don't want to drink them cold along with make yourself tea and coffee. There are no cooking facilities but there is a microwave. Finally, the lady host is really helpful and awesome. We rented a car so didn't need to be picked up. But she would go out of her way to ensure your stay is most comfortable and enjoyable. That hospitality personified.

GGuest UserThe hotel location is good. The room we lived in is located is a few stairs away from the Main Street, so it is quiet, but close to walk there. Mr Xu is nice and he picked us up at the Chenghuang Temple and prepared us the umbrella for the rain. The room is full of antique, which reminds us of the old times. A nice trip.

Due to ongoing construction in the neighboring building, some noise may be audible. The electric mirror in the bathroom is impressive as it remains warm and prevents water condensation. However, the bathroom fan is a bit noisy, and the hair dryer produces a strong gust of wind. Additionally, the internet password in the room is not easily discernible.

台台中阿源The reception staff was very friendly. I didn't have dinner there. The equipment was a bit old. Breakfast was available the next day, but it was simple. There was nothing special to order. I had thick slices, boiled eggs, and tomatoes that day. The air was pretty good.
