Homestays in Galapagos, Ecuador

We (me, my wife and our 5Y old daughter) stayed in Capitan Max B&B for five nights and it was literally perfect - best lodging experience in Ecuador hands down. After booking the room one of the hosts (Lourdes) contacted me and shared all the information I needed when arriving in Galapagos and she also offered a selection of tours we could take once on the islands. We booked two day tours and one tour on the island through them (incl. pick-up from the airport) and with her suggestions, we were able to see exactly what we came there for. The tours were done by respectable companies, everything went very smoothly and the pricing was fair. So I would definitely suggest organizing your day trips through them as well, no need to waste your time searching online or on the main street, you probably won't get a better offer. When we arrived, we were greeted and taken care of by the friendliest guy you ever meet - mr Pedro. He had some very good tips on the Santa Cruz island hotspots and how to get around town, he made a delicious breakfast, helped us with all the questions and even let us use his personal computer so we could participate on our parliamentary elections! Thank you so much! The room was clean and very nice, the hammock in a room was of course the instant favorite of our girl. The cleaning lady was placing her dolls in different places every day after she cleaned the room so every time we arrived from our day trip or a hike, our daughter could not wait to see where her dolls are this time. It was a nice game and it showed that all of the staff added something extra to our experience. B&B is situated just a few blocks (minutes) from marina and there are plenty of good restaurants nearby so you could not find a better spot to stay in Puerto Ayora. And you should also check out a little lagoon that is just around the corner - we were able to see sea turtles, seals and a lot of fish swimming there and the birdlife was also nice. So all of this review is a big praise to Capitan Max B&B and I feel it is justified. My regular reviews are not that exuberant but this time there literally was nothing they could have done better. They exceeded our expectations in many ways and made our Galapagos trip very memorable. When we talk about our trip then besides all the fantastic highlights of the nature that the archipelago offers, we always mention our lodging. So if you are going to stay in Puerto Ayora for some nights, then the only excuse why you should not stay in Capitan Max B&B is that they are fully booked on these dates.

Per il resto le camere sono semplici, l’attrezzatura della cucina basic, la risposta di Carlos a qualunque richiesta, veloce e competente. Il rapporto qualità prezzo ottimo.

The boss is a clean and welcoming mother 👩, the hotel is in a good location, the taxi knows, the room is clean and comfortable, air-conditioned, there is a convenient guest tea bar, there is a beautiful courtyard.

Hotel with a classical architecture, well preserved, very well located, beautiful, good service. We stay in a privileged room, 2nd floor, in front of the sea. Breakfast is also in front of the sea. The hotel has no comforts, such as lift or TV in the room, the Wi-Fi was half unstable and high people should be careful not to hit the head on some doors but these things do not make any difference for anyone who wants to cut the city and the walks.

This charming hotel is a nice little oasis in Santa Cruz. The owner Isabella was absolutely lovely and made us all feel like we were at home. The rooms were comfortable and clean with AC and hot water. Breakfast in the morning was delicious. It was a perfect place to recoup from the heat after excursions and time in the city. The sweet resident dog Lava was by far the highlight for my kids during our stay.

Hotel is quite far from the waterfront, but its not a big issue as the walk is nice 15-20 min or you take a cab which is all time available for 1,5$. Its called Hostal but rooms are like in a Hotel. They are nice and clean. At the roof top you have nice view, tables and a bar which was not on duty when i was there. Staff is very friendly and helpful. I wanted to change my flight and the receptionist was very helpful and even wanted to go with me to the agency in town which was unfortuntely not existed anymore. For it class i can strongly recommend to stay there

Self-care B&B, cheap and convenient

We were at La Peregrina for 3 nights and it was such a wonderful place to stay! Our unit was clean and comfortable with a tiled deck in one of their small buildings surrounded by gardens of native trees, plants and flowers. Breakfast each day was freshly made and delicious. But the warmth of the staff is what really stands out. My suitcase had been misplaced by the airline so we arrived with just my husband’s belongings. The manager Ingela immediately helped us with phone calls, and then loaned me some clothes! She directed us to places to pick up clothes and toiletries, and helped arrange some short tours while we waited. Every time we came through the lobby Ingela or Jazmin gave us an update, and they were was excited as we were when the suitcase was found just before we left on our cruise. The entire staff exemplified the spirit of Ecuador and the Galapagos. La Peregrina is in a great location, right in the midst of shops and restaurants, yet tranquil and peaceful. Highly recommended!
