"The itinerary was basic, but the hotel was anything but.
We stayed at a truly elegant hotel on the other side of the Xiaodong River. I pondered for a long time what words to describe it. It had a wabi-sabi feel, yet the details were human and warm. It had a traditional style, yet the rooms reflected a technological and modern aesthetic. Finally, I realized this might be the ”quality” we were looking for.
It's said that the owner had previously worked as a teacher, then achieved financial independence by starting a tech company. In his 50s, he built a hotel, freed from worldly scrutiny and able to design and operate it to his own taste.
In the evening, I sat in the lounge, enjoying a rich cocktail, listening to the graceful guzheng music, and observing the beautiful young women. All my emotional wrinkles were smoothed out, leaving behind a stable core.
Not only the food and accommodation, but also the hotel's cultural experience programs were thoughtfully curated. The hotel also has its own dock with direct access to the Xiaodong River Visitor Center on the other side. "It feels good to stay at the B&B in winter. I just arrived at Chenzhou West Station and the chef was already waiting to pick me up at the exit. Thank you very much! The children had a great time taking turns playing in the hotel's two swimming pools. The adults loved staying in the cafe, drinking coffee and eating snacks, watching the children chasing small animals outside the window. It was really relaxing. The only thing I regretted was the restaurant that night. There was a reception task so that we only had one fixed set meal to choose from.
