"This Holiday Inn deserves a five-star rating. Located in Hamburg's port district, it boasts convenient transportation. The hotel itself is very new. Although it was crowded, it became quiet once you went upstairs. The lobby is long and narrow, with a cowork area that feels slightly cramped. The front desk staff were excellent; the young people I interacted with were all very patient. Highly recommended! A new shopping mall is a 10-minute walk away, offering convenient dining and shopping options, making you feel like you're back in Shenzhen."

"Great stay — second time and still amazing
I had another wonderful stay at the Hampton by Hilton in Hamburg — this was actually my second time here. The first time I stayed with my mother, and this time with my fiancée, and both experiences have been consistently great.
The service is excellent. The staff are always smiling, very kind, and extremely polite, which really makes you feel welcome from the moment you arrive. Everything about the hotel feels lovely and well taken care of.
The gym is nice and well-equipped, perfect if you want to keep up your routine while traveling. Breakfast is amazing — plenty of options and everything fresh and tasty, definitely one of the highlights of the stay.
The location is also fantastic. It’s close to public transport (there’s a tram stop nearby), making it easy to get around the city. There’s also a great falafel/döner spot close by if you’re looking for a late-night snack, which was a fun bonus. Plus, it’s very close to Westfield, where you can enjoy the scenery and find lots of nice restaurants and shops.
Overall, an amazing stay once again. Thank you to the whole team — I’ll definitely be back."

"For the hotel, from the staff, the room to the breakfast, there is nothing to complain. Staffs are professional, room is clean and comfy (although room is small for a family of 4), and breakfast was really good.
The only downside is the location, it's close to hbf, and we don't really feel safe at the area nearby..... but you come from Berlinertor side, I think it's alright. But it's not anything the hotel can do i guess."

"Nice hotel not far away from the Harbour attractions of Hamburg. The hotel staff was very kind and upon my request changed our room because of a bad odor from the restroom. The breakfast is pretty good with lots of choices. The hotel has an underground parking lot which is 30 euros for visitors and 20 euros for guests, still pretty expensive considering the hotel costs of about a hundred euros per night. But in general a good hotel experience. One bonus is the free drinks of the room bar, including two beers!"

"The service was great that breakfast was not cheap with € 29 but great ! Unfortunately the dinner was not so good for us, so we also enjoyed it ONLY 1x !!! That was the washing basin in the living. /-sleep room is a little habitual, the industrial footing is unfortunately too cold in the cold season, for the use of TV, coffee machines, lighting, etc should there be a instruction for use !!! Unfortunately there are only few hotel parking sites and the entrance from the Str. is only to be seen on the 2nd view, if high traffic or bad view, the entrance should be better/previously detectable !!!"

"The Barcelo is located about 5 minutes walk from the main train station but in a quiet area. The rooms themselves are very clean, ultra modern and elegantly decorated in light colours. The bed is very comfortable and the shower and bathroom facilities were excellent. Having a laptop sized safe is also extremely convenient. The only downside is that I found the corridors very dark and dimly lit - I assume this is for environmental reasons - but as a lone female traveller it made me feel a bit uneasy"

"The room is relatively large and the sanitary condition is okay. But it looks very old, maybe because the carpet and the wall are all red. I have become accustomed to Ctrip booking rooms are always first and last rooms or irregular room types, this time is no exception. The breakfast is ok, it is basic, all western food. The location is good, two or three blocks away is the train station, then the commercial street, you can walk to the city hall and the Maiden's Causeway, and the airport is also S1 direct. As previously mentioned by netizens, there are many blacks and Arabs around. Although there is no danger, they do feel scared. The real large supermarket is diagonally opposite the hotel, and there is a Lidl poor supermarket on the street behind the hotel, which makes shopping more convenient."

"Checked in on Saturday, but the music from a nearby nightclub was loud all night and until after 7am the next morning. Sunday and Monday were quiet. The hotel provided earplugs instead. The hotel facilities were very old and not cleaned well, so there was a lot of dust. Parking reservations were required. The staff were friendly."

SsvpenalA fantastic experience! The supermarket and laundromat are within walking distance, and the breakfast service was excellent. Breakfast included my favorite German and European pickles, scrambled eggs, boiled eggs, crispy fried bacon, various honeys, a wide selection of breads, four types of yogurt, and a variety of fruits to add to the yogurt, as well as fresh fruit. There were also many unique juice options, and iced and sparkling water choices. A quick greeting from the staff allows you to bring your own coffee or hot tea to the smoking area outside (but remember to return empty cups to the restaurant).

AAnonymous UserThis hotel is very similar to a Japanese business hotel and was incredibly practical. It's just about walkable from the central station, and since the path is mostly flat, it was fine even with a large suitcase. There's also a supermarket about a 5-minute walk away.
On the first floor, you can enjoy unlimited coffee, cappuccino, and hot chocolate from a machine. Tea bags for black tea and green tea are also available. Plus, there's a very convenient self-service section with snacks, sandwiches, and instant cup noodles.

GGuest UserMy friends and I have enjoyed our stay in this fabulous hotel during our holidays and would like to give credit to one of the best host and customer service named Rolan who had been very entertaining and accommodating to all our needs. We had a fantastic time staying in the hotel, the place is pretty clean and the service staffs are all professional, will surely come back

MMexiiWe chose this hotel because the Barclays Arena is easily accessible on foot. Check-in at the terminal was seamless. I found the parking price (€15) a bit high, but it was acceptable. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The only drawback was the intrusive cleaning staff. Check-out is at 12 pm, and from 8 am onwards, the cleaning staff kept coming and going, wanting to enter our room.
Based on previous reviews, we didn't book breakfast.
The furnishings are very basic, but perfectly adequate for a short stay.
It was a very pleasant stay.

It's a short 15-minute walk to the East Side Gallery, where you can see the 'Fraternal Kiss' mural. The property has three buildings, so make sure to ask the front desk which one your room is in before you head up, to save yourself an unnecessary walk.

GGuest UserThe hoste provides the bare minimum in terms of amenities and cleanliness. While it is functional enough for a short stay, the overall quality feels very much in line with the low price. Facilities are basic, and the atmosphere is not particularly comfortable or welcoming. It’s not a terrible place to stay, but it’s also not somewhere I would confidently recommend to others unless they are simply looking for the cheapest option and have very low expectations.

Yes, the building (a&o Hamburg Reeperbahn, formerly Hotel Stern, address Reeperbahn 152/154) actually has a connection to the Nazi era - it was not a direct concentration camp or large concentration camp, but it was used as a forced labour camp in 1940.
The exact connection (based on historical sources):
• The house was built in 1891 as a Logierhaus Concordia - a cheap lodging house for poor men (e.g. Sailors, travellers without a permanent residence). It had 235 small single rooms, shared toilets and was typical for the rough harbour and red light district of St. Pauli.
• In the Nazi era (especially from the 1930s), the house was often used by the porters (caretakers) to denounce (advertise) guests. Many men (e.g. B. homosexuals, ***********, ”asocials”) were arrested there and imprisoned - this was unfortunately common in Hamburg's ”Kiez”.
• From August 1940: There was a forced labour camp of Deutsche Werft AG (a large Hamburg shipyard). The company used the existing building as accommodation for forced labourers - prisoners of war (POWs), civilians deported from occupied countries and from 1944 also prisoners from concentration camps (concentration camp subcamps). The shipyard had several such camps (mainly in Finkenwerder and harbour area), and this one in the Reeperbahn was one of them. Exact numbers (how many people, conditions) are not well documented, but it was part of the huge system of forced labour in Hamburg (a total of 400,000–500,000 people affected).
• A Stolperstein biography mentions e.g. B. that a French woman had to perform forced labour in 1944 as a kitchen assistant in the Reeperbahn 154 Foreign Home (during pregnancy) before she came to another camp.
After the war it became a normal tourist home again, converted into an Eros Centre (a large *******) in 1964, later refugee accommodation (in the 80s very dilapidated), then from 1999 Hotel Stern and 2009 a&o.
Well. We had a real good sleep anyway.
