Osawa Onsen Sansuikaku offers a range of bathing options to enjoy at this inn, as well as at the 200-year old Jisuibu Toujiiya and the thatch-roofed Kikusuikan sitting across the river. null

"How do I describe this hotel? In one word: amazing. It was my first time experiencing a mixed-gender bath from over a century ago. I was truly impressed! The elderly gentlemen were just casually strolling around without a care in the world. Families, you absolutely must try the mixed-gender outdoor hot spring bath. It's located in the old wing of the hotel, a bit of a walk from the new wing, but once you're in the hotel, just grab a map and you'll find it. You can also take the opportunity to peek into the rooms and dining hall of this century-old ryokan. As for the room, it goes without saying that upon entering, you're greeted with a flood of green, which was quite a pleasant surprise. The only minor point is that the Hozawa River was a bit murky. I drove upstream along the river, and soon lost cell service, so it is quite remote, but definitely worth a visit. The two meals were decent, nothing spectacular but perfectly acceptable."

"I am a US traveler on business. I have visited Kashoen before and based on my experiences it is the only hotel I will ever stay at in Hanamaki. The hotel staff are the kindest, most caring, and passionate people I have met at a hotel. The amenities are fantastic, the hotel food is phenomenal, and my stay is always relaxing. The rooms are very clean and comfortable. There is a nice nature trail nearby with a river that is beautiful as well. If you are in Hanamaki or are looking for somewhere to enjoy a peaceful weekend at, I suggest Kashoen."

"In the natural environment surrounded by mountains and forests, the clear stream behind the inn flows gurgling, healing the body and mind. It is fun to enjoy each of the four hot springs that flow directly from the source, but we especially recommend the deepest hot spring in Japan. This is a self-propelled natural rock bath ”Shirasaru no Yu”. This is a very rare hot spring. Due to its depth, you can stand up to enter, but it is evenly distributed throughout your body. It is said that applying hot water pressure can effectively promote blood circulation. The hall also has a nostalgic atmosphere, as if traveling to the past. The hospitality of the staff is also very attentive. If you have the opportunity to stay in Hanamaki, it is a hotel worth staying in."
