"Surprisingly Great Stay! Unique and Comfortable
I really enjoyed my stay at the Saintlo Ottawa Jail Hostel. The room was clean, comfortable, and exactly as described. The atmosphere is unique and definitely something you don’t experience at a regular hotel — in a good way!
The staff were friendly, the place felt safe, and the location was convenient for getting around Ottawa. Overall, it was a great stay and I would happily come back again.

"We had 2 fire alarms in 2 days, nobody told us when we’ve made the reservation. Fiest time ppl we’re afraid , we had to go outside… NO STAFF explain nothing to us for too much time. I asked at the front desk and the woman there just ignore me. The other woman that was there didnt either explain I had to asked what’s going on is it a practice or not ? Ppl were actually afraid… She told yeah in the most nonchalant way. Also when we arrived, there was still hair and stuff in the bathroom that I had to remove. Ive check in early I must say but they told it was ok that the room was ready. Clearly it was not 100% clean. Breakfast is very VERY basic. I had to told front desk that coffee was empty… Plus, the first guy that welcome me at the front desk was not sympathetic. If you have the budget to go elsewhere just do it."

"We stayed at the hotel for 6 nights, they had issues checking us in as the booking was made through trip.com which went through *******. Somehow they figured it out later.
The room was spacious, clean. They provided room services every day except for one day when they were understaffed.
Shower has only half door so be ready for some splashes. I recommend bringing your own body wash (they provide soap which is hard to wash off) and shampoo.
People who can't sleep with noise in the room, should consider their options. Air conditioning is super loud (like factory machine) , it constantly woke us up at night, there is no option to open a window instead.
Breakfasts are always the same, not a single thing changes: fried/boiled eggs, sausages, pork?cutlets, pancakes, apples, oatmeal, bread. The dining room was always overcrowded, the space should be at least twice as big. Sometimes we came and there was no food, so we had to wait for someone to come and bring food (they don't have a person there on a regular basis).
I can't say our experience was bad, but it was not great either."

"I expected more from Glö than I received. I chose Glö as a ”treat” for a couple's getaway, as it was a newer hotel and appeared like it would be snazzier than the usual fare.
Pros: The bathroom was very nice, and the complimentary toiletries are top notch. The rooms are very clean. The mattress was very comfortable and the TV was a decent size.
Cons: The rooms are incredibly small, and while they are nicely furnished, the tiny ”couch” seat was more form than function (i.e. prettier than it was comfortable). The front desk staff seemed very new and clueless on basic hospitality essentials, like how to work the in-room television. It also took ages for a response from front desk on how to work the TV and the issue wasn't even resolved.
I probably will not stay here again nor would I recommend this hotel to anyone I know, as there are so many hotels to choose from in Kanata that offer better, more knowledgeable service and better pricing."

"Service was good. The location is good except for the way you have to enter the parking lot outside of the hotel. The room was big and very clean. Could have definitely been a better seating setup for the breakfast. But it was a good visit and I’ll definitely be back. I’d love to take advantage of the terrace in the summer time."

"The location is excellent, close to shopping malls, supermarkets, Chinese restaurants, and tourist attractions. Room cleanliness was average, with noticeable dust on the sofa and table, and noticeable water stains on the bathroom and kitchenware. The room was well-equipped with appliances and a good size, making it very comfortable for families. However, the soundproofing wasn't very good, with frequent car sirens and sirens, which might be a bit noisy for those with trouble sleeping. If you want to cook, the kitchen doesn't have oil or seasonings, so you'll need to bring your own. Both the front desk and room service were excellent. I would recommend this hotel to families traveling with children."

"Ottawa is very small, the hotel location is very convenient, also in the core area, about 20 minutes to the subway station. I saw that everyone commented that the facilities were old and I didn't think it was in the way. When I checked in, the swimming pool could not be used. The indoor one did not say that the reason was repaired. Second, the deposit pre-authorization requires 200 knives, the sound of the air conditioner in the room rumbling, quickly call the front desk to see, the little brother said that there is no way that it may be broken, and then whispered to me, or I asked the front desk if I could change a room. Dreams came, called the front desk, the front desk said to go upstairs to the same room type and wait for someone to send the key to change the room. Well, after waiting for 15 minutes, no one came, just take the floor phone to the front desk, and then the front desk said to wait for them to urge them, and then Shi sinks the sea and waits for 15 minutes. Well, go downstairs and ask the front desk, the one at the front desk, said in vain that she didn't receive the call, didn't say to change the room, said that the air conditioner was normal! She answered the phone, can the hotel phone call be elsewhere, originally it is not necessary to change, must waste customer time... This service attitude is a bit too greasy!"

GGuest UserWhere to begin... first of all, when I made this booking, there was no mention whatsoever of HEAVY DUTY CONSTRUCTION beginning every day at 7 a.m. Naturally upon checking in, I'm informed that there is intense construction happening right next door. And yes, it was brutal. I also SPECIFICALLY booked this hotel because there was an option to reserve now, pay at the hotel. Here are some direct quotes from my booking confirmation email: ”You'll need to pay upon check-in at Andaz Ottawa Byward Market, by Hyatt,” ”Your payment will be handled by Andaz Ottawa Byward Market, by Hyatt,” and ”Pay at Hotel.” Sure enough, I get there, and the money's already been taken out of my credit card and I owe nothing to the hotel upon check-in. (This matters for reimbursement purposes at the company I work for.) Lastly, I was told when I checked in that housekeeping would be visiting every third day -- that was fine by me. But the very first day, I come back to my room after a long day and someone's been there, replacing towels, removing the minimal garbage in there, etc., which I was not at all prepared for given that I was advised the opposite. It made me extremely uncomfortable because all of my personal effects were left throughout the room, not expecting housekeeping given that I was advised no housekeeping would be coming until the third day. I'll be honest, that creeped me out as someone travelling alone. The staff were apologetic but I didn't find their explanation at all sufficient. (The housekeeping manager and front desk attendant completely contradicted each other.) Overall, such a chaotic stay. Oh, and, the heat in my room didn't work. Had to request a space heater... I mean, c'mon.

BBarryWRoom cleanliness and air conditioning were good. Beds were comfy. Breakfast was simple but good in quality. However the breakfast queue was long and food replenishment was not done in pace with the flow, ended up in a long queue not moving as people stayed in the front of the queue stayed in the queue waiting for replenishment. The dinning space was insufficient that could not accommodate the big crowd.
We ran into issue setting up the sofa bed. Calling the front desk asking for assistance we were stunned by a reply saying they would not send staff to help but urging us to try for another attempts and kept reassuring us the sofa bed operation was simple and easy. Finally we got that sorted out with help from other hotel customers..
A major disappointment that totally ruined my experience with the hotel was the way my enquiry was handled towards an unknown charge after I checked out.
In the check out bill, it was just a charge billed to my credit card without indicating what service or item I was billed for. While my family did not order or buy anything at all from the hotel and we were in a rush, I did not check the bill upon check out until 5 days later I saw it in my credit card account. I sent an email to the hotel reservation (that was the only email channel I found from the hotel home page) to enquire about the charge and no reply was received ever towards my enquiry and that's what I was hit. Although the unknown charge was refunded after another week, I did not feel good with the way they work. I frankly accept mistakes made by the front desk or the account team for incorrect bill, but I do not accept ignorance and zero communication from the backend on my enquiry. This is something the hotel should improve.

So, after checking in, you can easily explore the area on foot. Plus, it's very close to Chinatown, making dining options readily available. However, I would like to highlight a couple of areas where practicality could be improved:
• Study Table Placement: The study/work desk is positioned directly beneath the wall-mounted TV. This setup is not practical, as it places the guest in a position where they are working directly in front of a screen that may be distracting. It would be more functional to have the desk in a location that supports focus and productivity without unnecessary interference.
• Coffee Cup and Saucer Mismatch: The coffee cup provided has a round base, while the saucer has a square design that does not accommodate the cup securely. This mismatch not only affects usability but also detracts from the overall attention to detail expected at this level of hospitality.
• Bathroom Dustbin Design: The dustbin in the bathroom does not have a foot pedal for hands-free operation. Guests are required to bend down and lift the lid manually, which is inconvenient and unhygienic. A foot-pedal bin would be a more user-friendly option.
• Lack of Proper Kettle for Tea Drinkers: As tea drinkers, we found it inconvenient to boil water using the coffee machine. The water has a noticeable coffee taste and smell, which affects the flavor of the tea. A small electric kettle in each room would be a simple but impactful addition to cater to all beverage preferences.
