"Perfect base for exploring Dumaguete! Hotel Essencia exceeded expectations. Rooms were spotless and modern, beds were comfy, and AC was ice cold — huge plus in this heat. Staff were genuinely warm and helpful with tour and food recos. Location is quiet yet walking distance to restaurants and just a quick trike to the boulevard. Breakfast was simple but tasty. For the price, this is easily one of the best stays in the city. Thank you, Essencia team especially their OJT’s Very accommodating."

"Stayed at the hotel for three nights, the hotel is very new, although small but the facilities are very good, facing the beach and the sea (although it is black sand beach). Breakfast is delicious, if you don't have time to eat, you can ask the hotel to prepare a sandwich. "I had a pleasant stay at Henia Hotel overall. The room was comfortable, and the staff were accommodating, making my experience enjoyable. The breakfast was okay, but it could be improved by offering more variety and options for guests. Another feature that would make the stay even better is having Netflix available on the TV for added entertainment. Overall, it was a good stay, and with a few small improvements, the experience could be even better."

"Location: 5- minute walk to the cathedral and town plaza There are restaurants, banks, and shops nearby. Easy to flag down public transport. Amenities: The elevator made it easier for seniors to go up and down. Spacious family room and spacious toilet and bath. Hot water was working. The water flow was steady and stable. Hot and cold water dispensers on every floor. Restaurant on the first floor. However, we were not able to avail our complimentary breakfast because we had to leave at 6 am to catch an early ferry to Siquijor. Breakfast is served at 7am. I wish they could make it earlier and they could serve take-aways or packed breakfast. Service: Friendly and helpful staff. They helped us flag down a tricycle to the seaport. I left my ID at the reception in haste as I checked out to catch the early ferry to Siquijor. The staff called to inform me of my ID card. I picked it up per instruction without any hassle. The receptionist and the security guard helped me open a medical syrup using a kitchen knife. Fast check-in and check-out. Cleanliness: Our room, toilet and bath were clean and so were the common spaces. But I was disgusted to see a roach inside the thermos."

"Golden Gates Hotel Review I really liked everything about my stay at Golden Gates Hotel. The service was great, the staff were friendly, and the overall experience was very pleasant. The location was convenient, and the amenities met all my expectations. I’m giving cleanliness a 4 out of 5 everything was generally clean and well-kept, but there was a bit of room for improvement (e.g., minor dust in corners or areas that could have used a little more attention). It didn’t affect my stay much, but just something worth noting. Overall, I would definitely stay here again and recommend it to others!"

"It's definitely a ”small paradise” on the coast of the island. When we arrived at the hotel, our first impression was wow! Exotic and lush green gardens everywhere! So relaxing and peaceful environment after a long ride outside of the hotel. The staff were smiling, friendly, helpful and kind. They helped us in our needs and inquiries. In fact, they gave us a ride when we checked out. The breakfast was ok. A typical Filipino dish. It would be nice to upgrade it and add more variations. The price we paid was adequate for the services we obtained. Our room has a pool and beach access with a stunning view of the sunset. We have enjoyed our stay specially at the pool. With its sea water and infinite pool perfect for picture taking. The room was ok with basic amenities, spotless clean and functional. A bit far from the city but with public transportation it's ok. The only concerns we have are there are no lights on the street when you arrive at night and the road was rocky. They told us it wasn't the hotel's fault because it's not their property, the sink in the toilet was clogged. The water has difficulty to flow. The water on the floor stayed in the middle and doesn't flow in the hole. The shower was clogged too. The rust blocked the small holes of the shower. We found some insects in the toilet but it was ok. The hotel has a potential but they need to upgrade the rooms, toilets and its furnishings. We will definitely come back here again."

"The hotel was clean and smelled lovely throughout. The common areas for activities were small, so taking a stroll to digest after a meal wasn't really an option. The air diffuser in the room was on, so if you find the scent too strong, remember to turn it off. It's only a little over a kilometer from the airport, but quite a distance from the city center (Boulevard, Silliman University) 🥲. So, city walking on foot isn't really feasible. However, the hotel front desk can help you book a 'tutu' (tricycle taxi) using a ride-hailing app, and the prices are fair and transparent. The hotel is located down a small lane off the main road, and then down an even smaller lane. After dark, there are streetlights, pedestrians, and vehicles, so it's quite lively. If you can't avoid walking at night, it's not too scary. I stayed in the 'Pig House' room. It wasn't very big, the bathroom was tiny, and the bed was super soft. If there are mosquitoes, you can ask the front desk for mosquito repellent spray, which is free. There was a live singer in the evenings, who was quite good. I enjoyed a session of Filipino male singers (with a falsetto voice) 👍. Listening to their falsetto while lounging by the pool was incredibly relaxing. For breakfast, you can choose one Western or one Filipino dish, then select a rice option and an egg option. Coffee and juice are available at the self-service counter."

"This hotel was a temporary stopover, and I must say, the environment was exceptionally good, and the facilities were very new. They have a pool, and breakfast is served as a set menu. It's built as individual villas, which is nice, but the only downside is the lack of an elevator. This could be a bit inconvenient for older guests going up and down."

"This was our second stay, this time a room with a window overlooking the ”garden.” However, it turned out to be a planted hallway. Not really my cup of tea, but everything else was booked. The staff was very friendly and attentive."
