"The butler service was excellent and very responsive. We stayed in both the RV and the tent. My family in the tent said the wind was so strong at night they felt like they were going to be blown away, haha, but the tent was beautiful and still worth experiencing.
The breakfast buffet was very good. It's truly impressive to have so many fresh vegetables available in the desert. When we visited, there was a bonfire party and folk music performance, though the butler mentioned it's not held every night.
I came here last year and thought this hotel, deep in the desert, was amazing. Unlike other tent hotels that put up a bunch of haphazard things just to attract guests, this one was just a large expanse of clean, simple desert. The environment was elegant and refined, and the experience far exceeded my expectations. I raved about it to my family when I got back.
To be honest, this year was a bit disappointing because I noticed they seemed to be setting up amusement rides like carousels. The grounds looked messy and it wasn't as serene as last year. And a carousel in the middle of the desert really feels superfluous... The kids were all busy digging, sandboarding, and socializing. I really hope it doesn't turn into a messy tent hotel.
However, the butlers were all very dedicated and provided excellent service, which is something I can't fault."

"This hotel/guesthouse is absolutely fantastic! It's very close to Mingsha Mountain, and the Mogao Grottoes are just a 15-minute drive away. The lovely guesthouse owners prepared welcome apricot tea, and they do an excellent job maintaining the place. Our room was spacious and clean, and the triple room had a balcony, though we didn't use it much. The common areas, both on the rooftop and the ground floor, are perfect for relaxing and enjoying the breeze in the evening – very comfortable."

Located just outside of town, this hotel has a large range of rooms from standard to suites and villas.A little inconvenient for travelers interested in spending most of their time in downtown Dunhuang, the hotel does have plenty of amenities and entertainment rooms to keep their guests entertained. There is a shuttle bus that runs to and from town.
"I stayed at the Dunhuang Hotel for three days in Dunhuang, and now I'd like to share my objective thoughts.
The hotel is an iconic castle-style building with decor characteristic of the Northwest desert, and its location is unbeatable. From the room window, you can see the Mingsha Mountain, offering a wide and magnificent view, perfect for photos.
Breakfast is served at the Zhaixing Pavilion, with an outdoor dining area directly facing the desert. The staff proactively helped set up sun umbrellas, and enjoying breakfast while looking at Mingsha Mountain was indeed pleasant. However, the food quality was rather mediocre. The highly recommended noodles by netizens, perhaps due to over-expectation, tasted quite bland. The yogurt was commendable, but the rest of the dishes were unremarkable. Especially the cut apples and bananas, which were visibly oxidized, looked very unappetizing.
The room size was rather small, and the wooden bed was very unstable, creaking loudly when turning over. The indoor table was tiny, yet fragile ceramic cups were placed on it, posing a safety hazard for families with children.
Upon check-in, we received a small gift, and fresh toiletries were replenished daily, indicating decent basic service. However, on the first day of our stay, our child, excited to see the view outside the window, broke a cup while pulling the curtains. We called housekeeping for assistance, and ten minutes later, the front desk called to request 88 RMB for compensation. Throughout the call, there was no inquiry about whether anyone was injured. However, as it was indeed our fault and we wanted our child to learn a lesson, we agreed to the compensation. Upon check-out, we requested to see the purchase invoice to verify the price. The front desk seemed hesitant and called the manager, who replied that the cups were purchased ten years ago and the receipt couldn't be found immediately, and then said we didn't need to compensate.
The complimentary coffee and biscuits from the hotel, coupled with the Mingsha Mountain scenery, made for excellent photos. We were out early and back late, finally getting to enjoy them on the day of our departure. The airport transfer service was also hassle-free; we booked it with the front desk a day in advance, and the hotel arranged the departure time according to our flight schedule. We waited in the lobby ten minutes before departure and arrived at the airport in about twenty minutes.
This hotel excels in its unique architectural style and unparalleled desert landscape, making it suitable for travelers seeking a certain ambiance. However, if you prioritize convenience, comfort, and value for money, it might be worth comparing with a few other options."

"The hotel upgraded us to a junior suite for free, and the room was very spacious with excellent facilities. The staff were exceptionally welcoming; they offered apricot peel tea during check-in and even gave us yogurt and a small camel toy. The lobby cats, due to having kittens, temporarily didn't have their pet room open. However, the calico and a few other cats would wander around.
A great feature was the large terrace on the 6th floor. I washed clothes and hung them out there in the evening, and they dried very quickly, no dryer needed at all. The TV in the room was huge, but we were too busy exploring to really watch it. It would have been even better if the bathroom had a soft stool or bathrobes."

"I stayed at Dunhuang Yuntian International Hotel for two nights from August 23rd to 25th, and I absolutely have to give it a rave review!
I took the train from Lanzhou to Dunhuang. I had informed the hotel of my train number in advance, and to my surprise, they arranged a complimentary pick-up service. As soon as I exited the station, I saw the driver holding a sign waiting for me, and he even helped carry my luggage to the car. This start alone earned them major bonus points.
The hotel's location is truly unbeatable, right next to Shazhou Night Market, just a few minutes' walk away. In the evenings, after exploring the night market, enjoying some BBQ, drinking apricot peel water, and buying souvenirs, I could just stroll back to the hotel. No need to worry about finding a taxi or walking too far. The bus to Mingsha Mountain stops right at the entrance, and a taxi to Mogao Grottoes only takes about ten minutes, making it super convenient for sightseeing.
I chose a room with a humidifier. Dunhuang is naturally dry in August, and with the humidifier on, sleeping was so much more comfortable; I didn't wake up in the middle of the night with a dry throat. The mattress was a zero-pressure type; you just sink into it, and I slept incredibly well. The hot water came on quickly, and the vanity thoughtfully provided disposable facial towels, which is a nice touch for women. The front desk staff were also very friendly and check-in was fast.
Breakfast starts at 7 AM and includes freshly ground coffee, yogurt, fruits, and local snacks. It's great not to have to go out hungry early in the morning looking for food, especially useful for those heading to Mogao Grottoes early.
Overall, for this price, to stay in the city center with pick-up service, a rich breakfast, and a clean, comfortable room, the value for money is truly high. I genuinely recommend this place for solo travelers or those bringing family to Dunhuang. I'll definitely stay here again next time!"

When we visited Mingsha Mountain, the owner provided many helpful and practical travel tips and even arranged a tricycle to take us to the area – a truly thoughtful touch. There was also an unexpected bonus: the hotel thoughtfully provided a car wash service. "Booked this place after reading reviews. The exterior isn't much to look at, but the interior is newly renovated, and the service is excellent. They have triple rooms, which are great for families. When guests upstairs were noisy on the first night, they immediately helped us switch rooms the next day. It's also very convenient for getting to several attractions. It takes just a 5-minute walk to reach the golden sea of sand, with no need to worry about traffic jams even during peak travel seasons.
If you’d like to try more local snacks at Shazhou Night Market, it’s around a 10-minute drive away. You can easily take a Didi taxi for a hassle-free trip.We have an on-site restaurant serving authentic Dunhuang specialties, including signature dishes such as Braised Mutton with Flatbread and Donkey Meat Yellow Noodles. After a day of sightseeing, you can enjoy warm, delicious meals right here.
If you prefer to stay in, our courtyard and the viewing platform on the second floor offer a perfect vantage point to admire Mingsha Mountain. Enjoy the soft morning light, gorgeous sunsets in the evening, and brilliant starry skies at night — every shot you take will be a stunning photo.

"Traveling through the Northwest with kids, we've stayed in many hotels and B&Bs, but this is the only one I felt compelled to review after checking out. I asked the owner to upload some photos, but they're probably too busy to do so. So, a text review it is.
What surprised me most was the in-room washing machine. After checking in, we immediately headed to Crescent Spring, and when we returned, our clothes were covered in sand and dust, unwearable. In chain hotels, they usually have only two washers and two dryers for hundreds of rooms, and someone is always monopolizing them, taking ages. If you encounter an inconsiderate guest, you'll be waiting for at least an hour and a half, which is frustrating. This time, I just threw the dirty clothes into our own washing machine, washed and dried them, and the next day we were ready to go, clean and fresh. For those on a road trip, this feature is an absolute lifesaver.
The smart home system is also very convenient. Voice-controlled lights and curtains mean you don't have to fumble for switches in the dark with kids, which was a good experience.
The room itself is spacious; we could spread out our luggage without feeling cramped at all. I originally wanted to include some room photos, but we were so rushed during our trip that I didn't even take any myself, and the owner hasn't sent the ones I asked for. So, this will just be a pure text review.
My only minor regret: the owner mentioned that they couldn't get the linens clean enough, so they are temporarily using disposable towels. While I understand the operational difficulties, for guests, disposable towels simply don't absorb as well or feel as good as regular linens, which slightly impacts the showering experience. I hope they can revert to regular towels soon.
Overall, it's clean, spacious, offers the freedom of an in-room washing machine, and is smart and convenient. It's highly recommended for families on a road trip with kids. I had planned to write a separate accommodation summary upon my return, but work and health issues came up, and then it was time for the kids to go back to school, so it's been delayed until now. I wanted to make sure to review this place first, as I genuinely recommend it to anyone who needs it."

✔️ Upon check-in, they offered homemade apricot peel tea, chilled and delicious.
✔️ The hotel has apricot and jujube trees. During this season, you can pick Li Guang apricots, wash them right by the pool, and eat them fresh – so tasty!
✔️ The stay includes a complimentary travel photoshoot and refined edits. The in-house photo studio also offers paid makeup and styling, which was done beautifully – absolutely stunning and great for photos.
✔️ The showerhead is Hansgrohe. Our room had a bathtub, and both the bed and sofa were very comfortable. Both the hardware and software are excellent.
✔️ The hotel provides afternoon tea with dried fruits, fresh fruit, and tea – very relaxing.
✔️ Each room has a dedicated butler service, and any request is quickly attended to.
✔️ In the evening, there's a sweet soup for goodnight. It's also very close to Dunhuang Night Market by car, so it's great to refuel after a good stroll.
✔️ The set breakfast offers a rich variety: mini wontons, congee, bread, sausages, fried eggs, fruit, milk, yogurt, and apricot peel tea. Room service is also available.
✔️ The hotel has a swimming pool with swimming rings provided. The lounge area is under apricot trees, and the poolside environment is fantastic. You can go for a swim when the sun isn't too strong.
✔️ Upon departure, there's a farewell gift, a special souvenir from Dunhuang.
Overall, I just loved it. Honestly, I can't think of anything that needs improvement! ✨️

I booked this ”No. 23 Courtyard” through Trip.com in Dunhuang, and it exceeded my expectations. Definitely deserves a great review.
📍Location: It's very close to Mingsha Mountain Scenic Area, only a 7-yuan taxi ride away. Super convenient for catching both sunset and sunrise, saving a lot of travel time.
🏡Environment: There's a charming little courtyard. I had breakfast sitting under a tree one morning, and the owner and his daughter (just home for vacation) even picked some local specialty Li Guang apricots for us to try, sharing an interesting legend. Although I heard a few dog barks at night (their dog Chopper was on duty!), the owner explained it was foxes visiting, which actually added a touch of wilderness charm.
🛏️Accommodation: The room was clean and tidy, and very quiet at night. A pleasant surprise was the fully automatic, heated smart toilet. The towels were also thick, new plush ones, making for a comfortable and reassuring stay.
🍜Breakfast: It's a set menu, and I have to rave about the lamb noodle soup – fresh, delicious, and warming. The five-spice tea eggs were also very flavorful. The owner eats the same food as the guests, which shows the quality of the ingredients.
🍵Afternoon Tea: They surprisingly offer it for free, which is rare for a B&B. Big plus!
Overall, it's a comfortable, clean B&B with a family-like atmosphere and great value for money. I'd definitely consider staying here again on my next trip to Dunhuang.

Guest UserOut of our 9-day trip along the Qinghai-Gansu Loop, this homestay was our family's absolute favorite. It's a place with real heart and soul, where every detail is thoughtfully considered. Even our five-year-old said he'd give this hotel 30 stars!
The homestay has a great design aesthetic, and the rooms are spotless, perfectly matching the tastes and ideas of younger travelers. We always bring our own disposable toiletries when we travel, but here, everything was already provided in the room.
I also really loved the landlady – she's just one of those people you instantly like, and it was so comfortable interacting with her. From the moment we checked into the homestay in Dunhuang, we had such a positive impression of the city. Even though our stay was brief, it's full of beautiful memories.
When we were leaving, she found out my child liked apricots and even gave him some from her own yard, which was incredibly touching.
The breakfast offered a wide variety, and it was all very enjoyable.
I truly recommend this homestay if you're coming to Dunhuang. I hope everyone gets to experience the genuine warmth and hospitality during their travels here.
Their raisins are also highly recommended!

Xiao Yi's service was excellent, she was always ready to help with anything. I'm really happy with this trip and will definitely choose to stay here again next time.

The hotel's location is excellent, right opposite Shazhou Night Market. The room decor is also very nice. I forgot to take pictures of breakfast, but they had a great selection of cold dishes, hot dishes, fruits, and drinks. There's parking available right in front of the hotel and also an underground garage. In the evening, after visiting Crescent Spring, we took the free shuttle bus that drops you near the hotel, and it was only a 7-8 minute walk back to rest. So convenient! Plus, the room even has a bathtub, perfect for the kids to soak in after a tiring day.
From its location to its service, this hotel is simply perfect. I'll definitely stay here again next time I'm in Dunhuang!!

Lux.EThis was my first stop in China and I’m so happy that I stayed in Dunhuang at Baibaili Hotel. I was looked after so well, the hospitality of the staff extended many times for several necessities and I’m touched by their hospitality. This will for a very long time, be my remarkable first impression of China, its people and their culture.
The location is perfect if you want to stay a bit further out from town and enjoy the silence of being closer to the desert and the stunning design of the place.
Beautiful and comfortable room, all the final touches refined every day and after 24 hrs of travelling; a generous fruit and snack plate that grounded me sweetly into Dunhuang upon arrival and farewelled me just after mid-autumn with a beautiful moon cake.
Their communication was frequent and always made sure I had what I needed.

FaliangwangzhegirlThis stay was absolutely delightful! I was initially worried about the location being a bit out of the way, so I only booked one night. To my surprise, getting a taxi on the first night was super easy, so we extended our stay. While there aren't other guesthouses right around ours, we noticed a whole street full of guesthouses nearby, which seemed crowded and noisy. At night, lying in bed, you can hear the wind brushing against the walls, but it's not loud; it actually feels like being in harmony with nature. My husband and I also went gold panning – if you find gold coins, you can exchange them for prizes. We went enthusiastically, expecting a small sandbox like in a park, but it was a massive area!
**Mingsha Mountain View Afternoon Tea:** The chilled apricot peel tea was delicious.
**Fengmingsha Desert Restaurant - 30% off coupon for set meals:** After we landed, the butler collected our luggage and told us hotpot was ready, just waiting for us to freshen up and eat. The lamb wasn't ***** at all, and the dipping sauce was really tasty.

The hotel facilities are exceptionally complete. The entire room was clean and tidy, with a full range of toiletries and stable water pressure in the shower. The air conditioning worked very well, and all the furniture and appliances were provided. It was a comfortable and hassle-free stay, an absolutely fantastic experience.

The boss was very enthusiastic. I contacted him one day in advance and waited for us at the station early the next morning. The accommodation was close to the East Gate. We said we were going to Crescent Lake and Mingsha Mountain. The boss took the initiative to drive us to the Middle Gate, saying that we could save 20 yuan on the shuttle bus fare. The next day, we signed up for a tour group to go out and play. The boss also sent us to the boarding point early in the morning. The boss was afraid that it would be inconvenient to go back after the Crescent Lake Music Festival, so he also came to pick us up, making our travel very convenient. The accommodation environment is also very good, and the steamed bun for breakfast is particularly large.

If life is a never-ending journey, then the camping trip at the Desert Star Hotel is undoubtedly a highlight of my journey.
When I arrived at the campsite, the first thing that attracted me was the unique tent house. Unlike regular tents, the top of the tent is made of special transparent materials, like a huge viewing platform, which builds a bridge of communication between me and the vast galaxy. As night fell, I couldn't wait to lie on the soft bed, and when I looked up, the bright starry sky was presented to me without reservation. The stars twinkled, like gems inlaid on the black sky, beautiful as a dream. At that moment, the world seemed to press the mute button, and the impetuousness and noise in my heart were instantly soothed. The unique beauty of this quietness made me intoxicated.
It is worth mentioning that the hotel staff is very considerate. After placing the order, the customer service guy at the front desk added our contact information and gave us some local travel tips, which saved us a lot of time. From the warm reception at check-in, to the careful guidance during the activities, to the warm greetings at night, every detail made people feel cared for. They not only provided me with thoughtful service, but also made me feel the simplicity and enthusiasm of the desert people.
This desert camping trip not only allowed me to appreciate the magnificent scenery of the desert, but also experienced exciting and interesting activities, which became an eternal and beautiful memory in my heart.
