To get to Tianchi Lake, you can only book a private car from the ski resort for 200 RMB round trip. They'll drop you off at the foot of the mountain and then take a shuttle bus down to the ski resort entrance. It's quite expensive. Those with the stamina can hike up and down the mountain; the distance to Tianchi Lake is manageable, and the scenery along the way is beautiful."
