"I decided to celebrate my next birthday in Taormina at the renowned Excelsior Palace Hotel. Built in 1904, the hotel exudes a sense of history and age, from the lobby to the rooms. Initially, I was given a single room without a balcony, but at my request, reception upgraded me to a room with a balcony on the ground floor, right next to the lobby bar, which was very convenient. The hotel is heated by a central air conditioning system, which is loud but warm. Then, the next morning, I was awakened by construction noise—renovations were underway right next door in the bathroom, with a drill at work. I contacted reception, and they upgraded me to a deluxe room (a newer double room on the second floor). The move was a bit of a hassle—packing up, unpacking, and so on. And then, the next day, I had to check out, meaning packing up again. But the room was large and spacious, and it didn't heat up as quickly. If you turn off the noisy air conditioner, it's cold. The breakfast is monotonous: eggs, sausages, cheeses, vegetables, cereal, yogurt, nuts, sorbet, and pastries. On the second day, the coffee machine broke. I had to ask the waiters to bring coffee several times. For a hotel of this level, not fixing the coffee machine is very strange! Overall, I enjoyed my stay, but the rooms are old and not worth the price in high season; they're just paying for the name of the chain. Water from the minibar in the room is extra, there are no robes, and they didn't even congratulate me on my birthday. The tax is 4 euros per day. The hallway on the ground floor smells good. I didn't like that at breakfast I had to ask for a second cup of cappuccino, look for the waiter, and they don't ask me again whether I want coffee or not, they seem to be doing me a favor."

First, this hotel is not a hotel in the strict sense, and there is no 24-hour front desk (which caused us a lot of inconvenience later) Second, we booked the most expensive room type in this hotel, but it is very far from the sea and the volcano! It is on the mountain! It is very inconvenient to go to the beach or any check-in point, and it takes a long time to drive a winding mountain road to get there! In our opinion, the sea view and volcano view are completely gimmicks. Third, there was a sudden power outage at 11 o'clock in the evening. We didn't have time to wash up, and we called the staff on WhatsApp and sent messages for a long time without receiving a reply! It was only after 2 hours, at more than 1 o'clock in the morning, that we received a reply, and it was after the water and electricity were restored to normal. We waited for a long time in vain, and all our electronic devices needed electricity, but unfortunately we spent this night in a very worried and bad mood, which undoubtedly affected the mood of the trip. Although the hotel can check in early and provide champagne service upon request, I don't think this is what the staff let us recall as a ”benefit” on WhatsApp. The power outage and water outage are not your fault, but I think your attitude is not very sincere, just superficial. No matter what you say, you should know it in your heart. To be honest, I didn't see the hotel's symbolic compensation for such a long power outage, because it really affected our mood at the time. But anyway, this hotel is not recommended. If you have a car and you don't have high requirements for sea views and volcano views, if you don't want to go to the beach and can get there quickly, you can book this hotel."

"Lovely hotel with good location and parking spot 15-20 drives from Taormina, perfect place to stay between Taormina and Mount Etna. HIghly recommend spacious clean place with unbeaten price / has place to drop off luggage before and after checkin-out. Also available for late checkin with instructions to the room printed out. Only downside is if you have lots of luggages as you need to climb the stair up or down to get to your room. But overall we are very happy! Would recommend!"

"In total, it was a good stay. The price 1150€ for 2 nights is insane though. I like that the pool is open 24/7 and there is a beautiful restaurant with a view. The property also offered an upgrade, which was nice. The rooms are white and cold, though. Also the rooms should be cleaned while the guests are having the breakfast, so they need to use the updated system for tracking that."

The room on the waist is very large, facing the sea. The toiletries used are Spanish brand etro. Breakfast is a la carte. The omelet is delicious. The hotel staff are very warm."
