"This hotel exceeded my expectations! First off, it's super close to Hangwan Station – literally right outside the door. Even though the map made it look a bit further, it's just one intersection away. Plus, it's incredibly clean, and the lobby feels very international. There's even a Conan-themed attraction right next door. The hotel itself is really comfortable, and the views are absolutely stunning."

"The location is unbeatable! When it snows or rains, you really appreciate not having to leave the station.
Well, not exactly 'not having to leave the station,' but there's a side entrance that leads directly to the JR station, which is incredibly convenient.
The front desk service was very good; I borrowed an umbrella from them for three consecutive days.
However, there was no water provided on the first night, and if you chose to have your room cleaned, there was still no water. You only got water if you chose *not* to have your room cleaned... It took me two nights to figure out this rule.
The breakfast was decent, but not really necessary. For 100 yen per person, you can easily find plenty of food outside.
The rooftop bath is free!"

"The hotel boasts an excellent location, being close to JR station and within walking distance. It's right by the sea, with a seafood market just below, which makes breakfast convenient. There's also a convenience store nearby. The rooms are clean and tidy, with complete facilities, and offer beautiful sea views from the windows. The front desk service is great. My favorite part was the public indoor and outdoor onsen on the upper floor of the hotel, where you can soak while enjoying the sea view. Even the lounge area offers sea views – it's fantastic! Highly recommend this place! 👍"

According to our guests, this hotel provides a very high level of service. This hotel is particularly popular with those traveling with families.
"Hakodate Kokusai Hotel is an established hotel. While it has been recently renovated, and the lobby and public areas are bright and modern, there's a huge disparity in the condition and age between different parts of the hotel and room types. Rooms in the main building are noticeably newer, whereas those in the West Wing feel quite dated, almost from another era. My visit coincided with a Japanese holiday, so hotel prices had soared. I ended up paying main building rates for a room in the West Wing. While the room was passably clean, a distinct dusty smell lingered in the air. The facilities were outdated and inconvenient to use, and the room itself was quite cramped. Overall, my stay was quite disappointing. If only rooms in the West Wing are available, I would strongly recommend choosing a different hotel."

"This was my favorite hotel during my trip to Japan. Arriving in Hakodate amidst heavy snow, pulling my suitcase into the hotel instantly made me feel safe. The room had a very retro decor. Two things really stood out: first, the duvet was incredibly soft, like a cloud – I've never experienced anything like that in a hotel before. Second, the super luxurious breakfast, which was a major reason I booked this place. I thoroughly enjoyed a delicious seafood feast in the morning. While soaking in the hot springs, I serendipitously met someone from my hometown, and he also raved about this hotel. We even shared popsicles and ramen that evening."

"I was impressed with everything from the moment I arrived. The staff were incredibly polite and attentive, making the stay even more pleasant. The room was spacious, clean, and fully equipped with everything I needed—it truly felt like staying in a private apartment. It was very comfortable and convenient.
My favorite part was definitely the onsen. It was very large and offered several different baths to choose from. The atmosphere was relaxing and peaceful. What made it even better was that it was open all night until morning, so I could enjoy it anytime I wanted. It was such a wonderful experience, and I would definitely love to stay here again💛"

"This hotel offers great value for money. Both the breakfast buffet and the room comfort exceeded my expectations. If you're planning to visit Mount Hakodate and the Kanemori Red Brick Warehouses, especially in snowy weather, this is definitely the top choice because of its close proximity. Having lived in Tokyo for a long time, I've become somewhat jaded by bustling city centers and their dining scenes, which is why I didn't choose to stay near Hakodate Station. I preferred to spend more time quietly appreciating the tranquility of the rain, snow, and mountain pine forests. Many people mention long queues for the ropeway and tickets at Mount Hakodate, and that the Genova restaurant up there requires booking two weeks in advance and even then a window seat isn't guaranteed. However, I didn't encounter any of these issues because I traveled during off-peak times. I experienced zero wait times for everything, no advance booking or reservations needed. Therefore, staying at this hotel was incredibly convenient for me, and I was able to enjoy the beautiful daytime views of Mount Hakodate, which I found much more refreshing than the 'million dollar night view' that's become cliché on social media platforms like Xiaohongshu."

"Hakodate JR station is just next to you. The room is quite spacious and clean. The bathroom will be slightly small, but is good enough. Very accessible everywhere. It will be better to drive in Hakodate as the public transportation is not as convenient as bigger cities like Osaka or Tokyo.. super valuable with the price I've booked. Breakfast has quite a few selections, however it will be slightly pricey for it. You can add on upon check in."

"Facilities: Very good. A charming, compact choice in Hakodate, but it gets incredibly crowded. You have to queue for the elevator in the evenings. Hygiene: Decent. Environment: Very convenient surroundings with convenience stores, supermarkets, and plenty of dining options. Service: Excellent. They even offer a shuttle bus to various attractions."

GGuest UserAuthentic Japanese style hotel that own a hot spring underneath the property. The hotel provides public bath, but private baths are also available for reservation. Breakfast comes in a a personal set and is delicious. The room facing the beach front view hearing sound of the ocean is serene and peaceful. Staff are all friendly and professional.
SszjimmyThe hotel is very close to Hakodate Station and the morning market, making it very convenient. The breakfast was delicious, with a good variety of rice, bread, and miso soup. The bathroom was clean. My only complaint is that my feet felt a bit itchy after waking up on the second day, which might mean the mattress wasn't very clean.
CChrisYap1199Clean Apartment hotel. Interestingly they have an automated bath tub with water system. Good view and of coz a balcony for slow mornings and coffee. Location is great, only a few hundred meters to the train station. Convenience store just a few minutes walk. Near the fresh market. Staff were friendly and gave us toiletries and left it outside the room even when we did not ask for room cleaning. Spacious and great stay for Ironman participants as the unit is big, you can build your bike comfortably. Overall it was a great stay!
PPia alitRoom are spacious and clean, location are strategic, but service are really bad. I cant keep my luggage before my check in time, so i have to carry my heavy luggage with me for all day, and staffs here aren’t friendly at all, also they charge ¥5,000 for late check out even just for 5minutes. I stay in many hotel with higher and cheaper price but this place was really disappointing.
All the things in this hotel are perfect, but i think they have to educate the staffs and other services.
GGuest UserFantastic City Center Stay with Relaxing Onsen
My recent stay at this hotel was absolutely delightful. The location couldn’t be better – perfectly situated in the bustling city center, with major attractions, shopping areas, and public transportation just a short walk away. It made exploring the city effortless and convenient.
The on-site hot spring was a real treat: clean, spacious, and with perfectly warm water that melted away all stress. Soaking there after a day out was pure bliss and true relaxation.
The room was impeccably clean, modern, and comfortable, with quality bedding and all necessary amenities. Everything felt fresh and well-maintained.
What impressed me most was the staff – everyone was genuinely polite, friendly, and attentive, always ready to help with a smile.
This hotel offers the ideal mix of prime location, soothing facilities, spotless rooms, and warm hospitality. A wonderful experience I’d highly recommend!
Nnatsu_yasumiDecent budget stay – you get what you pay for. Room was clean, basic, and functional.
Location is superb: right across from Train Station, with a tram stop very close by.
Downside: my room was in the South Block, so I had to pass the smoking area (just an open space with plastic sheets) every time I used the elevator. Despite an air purifier, the cigarette smell was strong and unpleasant. Not ideal for non-smokers.
JJesscacaAbout 10-15mins driving distance from the city center. Parking is located next to it (around 2mins walking distance) where u have to walk through an alley to hotel main door. Perhaps they can install a street light in the alley way or a back door near to parking lots coz it is quite dark and scary to walk alone.
Breakfast is lack of variety but acceptable.
Other than these, overall is satisfied.
SSaSaleishaThis is the second time for the consecutive years of our stay. This hotel is the only reason for us to come back to Hokkaido again from last year’s trip. The ocean view in the room accompanied with the sound of tides / wind is peaceful and lovely; and the in-room but semi-outdoor/facing the sea onsen makes everything perfect. Also the lobby sitting area is another fascinating place for stay for a while! The downstairs souvenir shop, nearby walking distance Lawson/ 7–11 makes the location more convenient.
But maybe the expectation was too high after waiting for a year, I was disappointed for this stay several reasons:
1) too strong third hand cigarettes smell in the room, although we opened the window for 24 hours, the smell still lingered
2) check out time is WAY TOO EARLY(10 am) for a leisure purpose of stay
3) the room is clean but not the window, it hinder the view of seeing through the ocean ; and can tell the hotel is old from every corners.
I’ll reconsider to stay again if the price is worth the downside we need to compromise.
GGuest UserI highly, highly recommend this hotel! It's located near Goryokaku Park, easily accessible by tram from JR Hakodate Station. This area is quite central, with museums, shopping malls, and plenty of great food options nearby – there's even a super delicious soup curry place! A Lawson and 7-Eleven are less than a minute away, and it's also close to Yunokawa Onsen.
I recommend this hotel for a couple of reasons. First, the room was exceptionally clean and spacious. I stayed in a king-size room by myself, and it felt more than ample; I could easily fit several suitcases without an issue. Second, the staff's service attitude was excellent – very polite and courteous. I had a meeting in the morning and requested that the cleaning staff not disturb me during that time. Throughout my stay, no one ever knocked on my door; they quietly cleaned the adjacent rooms. Later, when I returned from sightseeing in the evening, I found a bag of fresh toiletries hanging on my door!
I was so touched! They were considerate enough not to disturb me by knocking, yet also made sure I had new bathroom supplies.
I was deeply impressed by the hotel's service and thoughtful consideration! This was truly the most satisfying hotel experience of my Hokkaido trip. The price was reasonable, the cleanliness was impeccable, and the staff were warm and polite.
Next time I visit Hakodate, I'm booking this hotel directly.
エエゾシカ伝道師The staff at the inn were warm and moderate, and I was very comfortable.
While there were many non-smoking rooms, the companion who was a smoker was very happy.
In addition, the correspondence of the odor remaining in the room is also firm, and I think it can be comfortable.
It's a hot spring, but you can get the power of the source.
It is a hot spring of great satisfaction!
