MGM Shanghai West Bund

This is my second stay at the MGM Shanghai West Bund, and I'm incredibly pleased. I even connected with Cici from the Guest Experience Department on WeChat – she's wonderful! And the milk tea at Cui Lang (Emerald Lounge) is absolutely delicious. Cici herself is unbelievably thoughtful and gentle, always resolving any issues promptly and truly making you feel right at home. I have complete trust in MGM, which makes me so happy! The local Shanghainese cuisine at the hotel's Yu Yuan restaurant is also fantastic, and the hotel's art installations are beautiful. It's a must-stay for me every time I visit Shanghai. Looking forward to my next visit!

Having stayed at the MGM last year during my visit to Shanghai and thoroughly enjoyed it, I decided to book it again for this trip! Even before check-in, the hotel proactively called to inquire if I had any specific needs. Every staff member I encountered was incredibly warm, friendly, and professional. I was extremely satisfied with the entire check-in and stay experience! It's truly excellent value for money! The hotel itself is quite new with top-notch, well-maintained facilities. The rooms are very spacious and incredibly comfortable. Being located on a high floor, my room was wonderfully quiet, without a trace of noise! The breakfast area was very comfortable, offering lovely views outside as I ate. They had a special variety of breads, including tuna toast, and the Eggs Benedict were expertly prepared. The small wontons were incredibly savory. The bacon was perfectly crispy – I couldn't get enough of it! The juices were fresh. I really enjoyed the swimming pool; swimming at 7:00 AM, the pool was bathed in sunlight, and the water was perfectly warm, clean, and clear. It was a truly refreshing experience. Getting a room upgrade was fantastic. I loved watching the sunset and the western views from my window. I've already made plans to stay here again.

The room was quite satisfying, with luxurious furnishings. The gym and pool facilities were also of a very high standard. Complimentary afternoon tea was provided, and the portion was so generous that two people couldn't possibly finish it. Breakfast, however, was relatively average. The hotel's location is within walking distance of the West Bund. Overall, we had a good experience. Room for improvement: I booked this stay for a birthday, and it would have been a thoughtful touch to receive a birthday greeting or gesture, like a card or a small gift.

Upon our first arrival, we were a little disoriented. The hotel lobby, resembling an art gallery, left us momentarily unsure of where to go. Cici happened to be at the front desk and immediately approached us. She warmly guided us and assisted with a swift check-in. She also provided a brief introduction to the creative concept and artist's background behind the massive art installation in the lobby. We instantly felt the hotel's artistic ambiance! Her explanation truly brought the artwork to life for us.

We were in town for a concert with my child, and the hotel staff proactively called us beforehand to confirm our check-in details. We arrived at the hotel around 11 PM, and the front desk staff were incredibly quick with the check-in process, which was a huge relief after a long day of travel! Moving on to the room, we had a river view room this time. It was quite spacious and impeccably clean. For example, the electric kettle was spotless, inside and out – no water stains whatsoever. This really matters to someone like me who's a bit particular about cleanliness. The bedding was very comfortable, and the mattress was perfect, offering just the right amount of support without being too soft. Finally, I have to give a special shout-out to the breakfast. I honestly didn't have high expectations, but the breakfast at MGM Shanghai truly blew me away! Unlike the standard, often unremarkable breakfasts at many star hotels, the selection here was incredibly rich and diverse. They had a live noodle station (the scallion oil noodles are a must-try!), freshly prepared seafood congee, and preserved egg and lean pork congee – all tasting absolutely delicious. Especially when compared to another five-star hotel we stayed at the very next day, even my daughter couldn't help but exclaim, 'I really miss MGM's breakfast!'
