Rongju Hotel (Shanghai Chenghuang Temple)

The hotel's most important feature is its location in general. It is easily accessible to the metro station and many other points, especially the Bund area. However, when you arrive at the front of the building, you may not be able to find the entrance. We found it by asking the corner shopkeeper. The 5th floor of an office building has been converted into a hotel, room by room. When we first saw the reception, we thought it was the grocery shop. Therefore, it is different from the usual hotels. It is two levels above a hostel. The rooms contain the items seen in the photos, but the cleanliness is a 6 out of 10. The staff's attitude is neutral. Superb location. From exit 1 of Yuyuan station, we walk to the hotel building within 5 mins. The room is big enough for a family.

The only good things about this hotel are its convenient location near The Bund, the metro station, and Yu Garden, plus the fact that the room includes a washing machine. Unfortunately, almost everything else was disappointing. There is ongoing construction directly in front of the building, the surroundings and lobby area are messy with trash piled up, and the overall cleanliness feels very run-down. In front of it is the trash collection area as you can see in the photos. The atmosphere is disorganized from the moment you enter, which already sets a bad impression. Worst of all, when I checked in on the evening of October 29 (around 6 PM), the male staff at the lobby was playing online games on his phone and responded with irritation every time I asked a simple question, showing very poor professionalism.

Location is superb. 1 minute to Yu Garden metro exit 1 and to Yu Garden. The accommodation looks like a serviced apartment building and is located on 5/F, the ground floor is a wholesale shopping centre. You can buy many souvenirs at much cheaper price than at tourist spots. But, I find that there are very limited eateries nearby. The room has a microwave, fridge, and a washing machine. Towels are disposable ones. No floor mats are provided even on the bathroom, I requested it and was provided one for the first night as the floor was still wet. The second day they cleaned up the room and the floor mat was taken and no new one provided. 😅 But still, Very nice overall 👍

The room is suitable for four people, it is clean, receptionist always support and friendly. The hotel is located on the 5th floor of a market, so it is very convenient to buy gifts ✅😁
