Qiyu Hotel (Waitan City God Temple Branch Shanghai)

Travelled with my parents (two seniors). The entrance to the hotel is at a small street at 凤祥楼. Hotel location is just right next to Yuu Garden (BARELY 1 min walk), and ~ 5min walk from Yu Garden Metro station. The hotel is very accessible to the attractions like Yuu Garden, Shanghai City God temple and Yu Yuan Bazaar. There are also wide range of local food (羊肉串, Xiao Long Bao, Sheng Jian Bao, Cong You Bing etc) and even Macdonald. My parents really enjoyed the close proximity to Yuu Garden and Yu Yuan Bazaar. One can feel the night bustling life outside the hotel as YuYuan old street comes to life as the night falls. Do note that the streets are off limits for 4-wheel vehicles, and Didi / Taxi drivers will drop u slightly away. The service crew are very warm and friendly. Do ask them for access to level 5 for some photo taking too. Overall, a very enjoyable stay. The front desk and service crew team are also very friendly, with great service attitude. In the hotel, there are also free washing machine and dryer for those travelling with families. One will definitely feel the hospitality of the crew and enjoy the location.

it's super strategic area. less than 5 mins walk to YuYuan Garden. Hotel is surrounded by many souvenir shops, restaurants and many shops. love the room. minimalistic, clean design and simple. love the fluffines of te quilt. The receptionist very helpful despite of the language barrier. thanks for the technology. but they are always very helpful. i was sick and they helped me to order medicine. only the cleanliness can be improved. i still find many hairs and dust under the room the next day.

I've booked a hotel in the scenic area. The customer service staff at the front desk provided excellent service during our stay, helping with any requests we had. They warmly introduced the nearby tourist attractions, which can be easily reached on foot or by public transport for sightseeing. There are also many local delicacies around—there's even a snack street right downstairs!

The room was clean and spacious. Amenities were plenty and staffs were friendly and welcoming.

Terrible experience. I booked two superior rooms with view on Yuyuan garden, paid online. The website pictures clearly depicted rooms with direct view on Yuyuan garden but it's not the case ! I arrived Saturday night around 8pm. Firstly, we had to carry our heavy luggages for 250 meters since the hotel is located in a pedestrian-restricted zone. Secondly, the staff tried to scam us. Upon arrival, two receptionists and a manager were present. It wasn't long before the manager left. Then, one receptionist told us our rooms were not available and requested us to find another hotel. We told her that wasn't right. That was not making her change her mind so we had to threaten her that we would call the police if she didn't find a solution. She called the manager and he came back and gave us two rooms located on the fifth floor. One room had view of the street and smelled cold cigarette smoke. The other one had view on a bamboo fence. Fifteen minutes later, we saw another guest facing the same problem with his reservation. It's obvious they are practicing overbooking. I came back around midnight and discovered that the bamboo fence room is located next to AC units. Due to their noise, I could not sleep all night. Thirdly, sound insulation is terrible. We could hear neigboors talking and showering ! The following day, we got moved to two better rooms on the fourth floor. Yet, the sound insulation was still terrible. Fourtly, they don't provide breakfast and it's difficult to find breakfast in the vicinity. Lastly, mattresses are very hard. On the positive side, rooms are modern and useful. Also, the hotel location is great if you wish to visit Yuyuan area.
