Property Description
The Peninsula Shanghai (Shanghai Bandao Jiudian), the first building built on the Bund in 60 years, brings world-renowned Peninsula standards of luxury back to Shanghai nearly three quarters of a century after its exit from the city after managing the Art Deco-inspired Astor House. With unparalleled views of the Bund, Huangpu River, and futuristic Lujiazui skyline, the Peninsula Shanghai's interior designs reference Shanghai's glory days as the "Paris of the Orient." All rooms come complete with a host of luxuries. Superior rooms feature 46" flat screen TVs, work desks with iPod connectivity, spa-like bathrooms featuring mood-lighting, TVs, phone access, double vanities and rainforest showers; while Peninsula-engineered beds ensure wonderful sleep uninterrupted by any outside noise thanks to triple-paned glass windows. Dining is a highlight in this Shanghai hotel, with both Sir Elly's Restaurant, Bar and Terrace and Yi Log Court headed by chefs experienced in delivering Michelin-starred culinary excellence. Sir Elly's rooftop location allows diners to dine in style and enjoy superb views of the Bund. A fully equipped fitness center, 25-m pool, steam rooms, saunas and the Peninsula spa ensure guests always look and feel their best. The Rose Ballroom's oversized elevator can fit a limousine, meaning that almost any production or event can be hosted. Past events include car shows by Maserati, and dramatic theater plays, all supported by the Peninsula's excellent catering and conventions staff.

Very much worthy stay indeed! Welcomed check-in with drink hospitality, Well maintained room, cozy and bright swimming pool, home-made like breakfast and so on. Every staff from main gate to housekeeping were great. Special thanks to Rustin at front desk, who ordered to deliver a personally requested item at late night. Must meet good people in The Peninsular Shanghai if traveling Shanghai is scheduled. Rustin, many thanks once again!

I’ve been visiting The Peninsula for a decade, and it’s a magnificent hotel. The location is brilliant, the indoor pool is one of the best in the world, the spa team is phenomenal. Yet on this recent visit, the service, while quite good, wasn’t the sort of impeccable, seamless joy one hopes for: the early staffing for breakfast was limited, without a dedicated host to welcome and seat guests; I realize it was a Saturday night on a holiday weekend, but a twenty minute wait just to be able to order room service is a bit much; over half of the deserts on the menu were unavailable. The room is wonderfully comfortable as always, fantastic housekeeping and amenities—I do hope they can get back to the very high bar they’ve set for themselves across all of their hotels. Plus truly stunning views if you’re in a river view room.

The location is perfect for exploring the Bund by foot—both day and night. The surrounding area is filled with photo spots, making every walk feel like a scenic tour. One of the highlights was the rooftop bar with a stunning night view—absolutely breathtaking. The bedding was exceptionally comfortable, and the view from the room was also impressive. All the staff were friendly and spoke English well, which made the stay even more pleasant. The breakfast area had a beautiful European-style interior, and the view of the trees through the large windows added a peaceful charm. However, the breakfast quality itself was just average. Overall, it was a highly satisfying stay, and I would gladly return.

Definitely one of the best hotels in Shanghai. I have stayed at different five star hotels and the Peninsula is second to none. However, the breakfast part was disappointing as food quality was just so-so, and there is no juices at the buffet area (servers have to take your beverage orders but apparently very understaffed during CNY).

Everything was nice, except for some trouble with the TV channels or movies— the person who came to our room to help fix this was not very helpful and was rude. She acted like we made up the issues. Otherwise, all good.

This is a beautiful hotel in an excellent location on Shanghai’s Bund. The staff in the hotel went above & beyond to provide us with a most enjoyable and memorable New Year’s Eve & New Year’s Day stay. Our rooms were extremely spacious, well equipped and wonderfully soundproofed so we did not hear any road noise or sounds from surrounding rooms. The beds and pillows were super comfortable so we had excellent nights sleep. We needed to borrow a wheelchair which the hotel loaned us without charge which was amazing. If we returned to Shanghai for another special occasion we would definitely consider rebooking The Peninsula

Room is clean and service is perfect. Breakfast at the lobby is of highest quality. Location is just 1 traffic light across the bund. Only cons is quite a walk away from mrt. Will definitely be back again!
