Qingmu Select Hotel (Shanghai Chenghuangmiao Laoximen Subway Station)

I had a very poor experience at this hotel. My room had repeated cleaning problems — towels left in the bathroom, slippers placed on the table, my toothbrush and comb removed, and even some personal items moved. Trash from the toothbrush wasn’t taken out either. When I came back to my room, there was a strong smell of cigarettes, likely coming from the ventilation system or outside. The room was also far from soundproof — my sleeping analysis app even showed ambient noise levels above +30 dB. Both “quiet room” and “non-smoking room” were advertised when I booked, yet neither condition was respected. On Friday evening, there was no proper hot water, only lukewarm even with the temperature set to maximum. One of the desk drawers kept sliding open on its own, right next to my laptop, which was extremely annoying. To make things worse, I saw dirty bed sheets lying in the hallway — very unhygienic and unacceptable. I even took photos as proof. What’s even more disappointing is that the front desk didn’t offer any solution when I asked for help washing my clothes — no laundry service or alternative was proposed. And when I came back to the hotel last night, I even saw people sleeping on the sofas in the lobby, with no staff at reception and no lights turned on. The whole place felt completely unmanaged and unsafe. Overall, this was by far the worst hotel experience I’ve ever had. Given all these issues and the lack of proper service, I believe a compensation would be entirely justified. I truly hope management takes this feedback seriously.

The rooms are not like the picture, also they gave an upgrade when we asked windows, Breakfast wasnt had many options and cold

The cozy double room is small but excellent .. the hotel staffs are very nice , the location was perfect , definitely will come back when I go to Shanghai again
