"Because the windowed rooms skyrocketed in price and were fully booked, I switched to a windowless room. The windowless rooms are those on the fifth floor and higher where the windows are blocked by newly constructed club facilities outside. The room layout was exactly like the photos, but the window was completely blocked. It's livable, but please improve the Wi-Fi; various Chinese websites kept failing to connect. The breakfast was the same as half a month ago, a mix of Chinese and Russian. The bathroom ceiling leaked because the person upstairs' laundry overflowed, flooding the floor. The maintenance staff, who also spoke Chinese, explained that it couldn't be compared to domestic standards but still fixed the problem, which I understand. Finally, because even the windowless rooms' prices had skyrocketed, I reluctantly switched hotels. And then, at checkout, they said they found cigarette butts during cleaning two days prior and wanted to fine me for smoking???? I've never smoked a single cigarette in my life; this honestly made me laugh out of anger. I even said, 'Do you want to search my luggage? Don't blame me for your own poor cleaning,' before they let me go, and not even an apology."

"Fantastic stay! We will be back for 5 days next year.
We stayed for 1 night and 1 day, and everything was much better than we expected. The resort is beautiful and very clean.
What we loved:
The Room: We stayed in the purple chalet. It was very cozy, warm, and had a great mountain view.
The Staff: The service was excellent. The staff speaks very good English and they were so helpful with our questions.
Skiing: We had a great time on the slopes! The equipment and the snow were perfect.
Our Plan:
One day was too short. We liked it so much that we are planning to come back next year in the Autumn season for a longer stay of 3–5 nights to see the colors of the trees.
Bottom Line: Highly recommended for families and international travelers. Thank you!"

"The room was new and clean, with a large bed and convenient electronic controls for setting the status (e.g., 'Do Not Disturb'). The breakfasts were superb, buffet style. The only downside was a speaker located right outside our window that played loud music, disturbing our rest. Also, our room was on the first floor, under an awning, which made it a bit dark. Overall, it was a great stay and we were very satisfied. I can recommend the hotel, but I wish they would address the sound system issue. A minor annoyance: they wouldn't give us an umbrella during the rain, demanding a deposit in tenge, but we hadn't had a chance to exchange money for local currency yet."

Guest UserMixed feelings. Great location and lovely staff! But we had a room where the TV wasn’t working. First night they told us they can only fix it the next day. Then the next day they said they can only do it the next day again. Plus this was after my multiple phone calls, it seemed that the maintenance team just ignored us. And the reception offered a 20% discount on room services as apologies for the long wait. In the end as they can’t do anything, I asked if we could change room. So we got a new room… with a half working tv… but with broken aircon… we called reception and was told they can control it from their end. Still not working. So we went out for dinner and asked them to check it out. When we returned, there were technicians in our room fixing the air conditioner. And we sat around outside for an hour before it was fixed. In the end, after hassling the whole day we finally had a working room at 9pm…
All the staff were very polite and tried hard to resolve the issue. But I feel everything in a room should be working before guests check in. alternatively we did ask to change room again but not sure why that wasn’t considered but instead they want to keep us waiting around for another hour in the lobby.

Guest UserIt is located centrally, enabling travellers to have easy assess to connecting public bus services, subways, walking distance to nearby eateries, restaurants, the famous Green Bazaar and the sceneic, spacious park that housed the famous Zenkov Cathedral!
All the staffs were amazing, from the frontline to the housekeeping and managers on duty. They communicated well, speak good English, and were extremely patient and helpful in answering my questions about the hotel facilities, going to certain places, etc.
Although the breakfast food selection is not much, it was still outstanding - the bread were fresh, the coffee selection is excellent, fresh cut fruits, and these were sufficient to fill my appetite during my stay for the breakfast!
I would definitely recommend travellers and visitors to Almaty to consider staying at the Grand Tien Shan hotel, its a ”GRAND” feeling you wouldn't want to miss! Enjoy!

XuelangshanjukeI was a little skeptical at first, thinking it would be old. In the end, I booked it because of the location. Overall, I am satisfied. Generally, airline crews will choose hotels for their stay, so they won't be too bad. It's not far from the cable car station, about a 20-minute walk. It's also not far from the Cathedral, a 15-18-minute walk. I am a bit picky. The facilities are acceptable and clean. The room is quite satisfactory. The breakfast buffet is average.

Novotel Almaty City Centre Hotel.
Set in the heart of Almaty City, a few hundred feet from the iconic Soviet era Khazakstan Hotel and 20 to 30 minutes from Almaty Airport, this Novotel is modern, clean and with all the usual, essential amenities.
Only one main downside is the room aircon is set by the hotel during winter months to run warm. It cannot be adjusted in the room so it became too hot and stuffy. We had to call an engineer who just unlocked the window security lock and we had to have the window wide open through the night allowing all the street noise below to echo into the room.
A pleasant stay for a few nights if travelling onwards, but a bit pricey at £170.00 pounds sterling a night for two people!

The hotel's location is excellent, not far from the Central Museum, and there are restaurants within walking distance. The rooms are relatively spacious, and the lobby has an old-fashioned charm. The occupancy rate wasn't particularly high during my holiday stay. With the new Marriott hotel opening, Almaty will surely have even more great hotel options in the future.

FromMalaysiaThe hotel is in a good location, room is clean abit smaller than when i stayed in holiday inn express but still able to put 2 luggages in the room.
The breakfast spread is very good. Thumbs up. Plenty of food to keep you full. The dining area is abit small but there is still enough tables to serve at least 30 people. I think others who complaint about this probbaly came during summer or peak season. I was in in Oct 2025, it was only half full when i went for breakfast (i stayed for 2 nights). Breakfast is served 7am to 10am. Just be smart about the timing if you feel the hotel is full.
Also i took picture of the aircond because someone else also mentioned, the aircond light is bright which is true. And we could not switch it off since it was not the original remote controller. We both use eye mask, hence it was ok.

The hotel can arrange airport pick-up. The driver will hold a sign and is easy to recognize. The front desk is very enthusiastic and the service is very thoughtful. The room is very clean. I will come again next time.

This hotel is definitely one of the most affordable ones in the city, and it has a good location. There are a couple of restaurants on the ground floor, and a free breakfast buffet for guests. There is also a sauna and a hammam at the lower ground level. Overall, a good stay experience at this hotel.

My stay at the Wyndham hotel was decent overall. The location was super convenient, making it easy to grab a bite or catch a taxi.
The room itself was a bit small and felt cramped. The hotel facilities were noticeably old, with outdated furniture and appliances that weren't particularly well-maintained.
However, there were some definite highlights. The breakfast spread was incredibly varied and tasty – I left feeling very satisfied. Plus, the hotel had a gym with all the basic equipment, which was great for a quick workout to unwind.
Overall, its strengths are the excellent location, the wide breakfast selection, and the gym. But if you're bothered by small rooms and old facilities, you might want to consider other options.
